Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

I’ve ordered a lot of alcohol from Amazon in the past and they always just ask for year of birth, today I was out so someone else took in my alcohol drinks order and the driver wanted to see actual ID. Despite person being clearly over 18.

Anyone know of if this a new thing or just the driver being a bit over cautious?

I had to show ID a year or two ago for some vape atomisers of all things.

You don't even need to be 18 for those and I certainly look older.

Unfortunately.

Ah, perhaps driver was just following instructions to the T, and most of them just ask for a year of birth to speed things up.

amazon Logistics going downhill again, delivery times have been getting later and later again, getting past the 8pm point. So I guess back to only ordering stuff for weekend or pre 1pm delivery. (or same day if I actually want it late).

Although to be fair they still do actually deliver, so not on the same level as DPD, who just hit the skip button.

Amazon did that to me earlier this week - 'Still arriving Today' right up until the end of the day, then 'Delivery Tomorrow'. Tomorrow comes and the estimated delivery time is a huge 4hr slot which they extended as it was late. You could waste a lot of time waiting on a delivery if you have to be in the house to accept it.

Sounds about right. My Amazon deliveries are very regularly very late afternoon up to 9pm and almost the only time I get a delivery before then is if there's one on a 'before 1pm' slot.

I can't say the same about DPD though as they have always been good here.

I've had that twice this year I think. Extremely annoying when you're waiting for something.

DPD are fine if I order to a shop drop off, the habit seems to be if you at a hard address, they will drop, as DPD are still on an outdated system where if they fall behind they wont adjust the delivery window, so to avoid getting past it they skip parcels to catch up.

Problem is some sellers, block the option to choose a different drop off, locking you in to failed delivery loops.

DPD exec office to be fair admitted my depot is a known problem depot, and are working on new management for it (however still refused to give me number for it). I think we could benefit from regulation where sellers are forced to have multiple courier choices for customer to choose from, that would be proper competition, instead of retailers having exclusivity deals with one courier company, and in some cases not even declaring who is delivering the parcel until the tracking info comes.

I had that i got back a £30 voucher then complained again the next day £30 refund and told to keep items :D

Had 2 deliveries from Amazon, one by Royal Mail yesterday where the tracking suddenly changed to "We'll retry the next working day" without any attempt to deliver, and then today one (by Amazon) which needed signing for was tracking for 17:15-19:15 but then changed just now to "Unfortunately, we ran into an issue when attempting your delivery at 14:28" - checked the CCTV and the delivery guy comes to the door with the parcel in hand, does not ring or knock!, waits a minute then leaves.

First time I've had any real issues with Amazon in awhile but for some reason 2 in a row.

EDIT: That was a little weird - the Royal Mail one just turned up - driver was in a RM uniform but looked like their own van and looked like they were delivering for several couriers companies.

I had a failed delivery of a fridge freezer for various reasons never arrived they gave me £30 "for my trouble" which proved handy as I ordered locally instead it turned up but instead of taking away the old one as I paid for they simply left it round the bins at the back - local kids had a field day with it there were bits of broken plastic and doors littered all over the place paid the council in the end to remove it (again) amazon's money covered most of it

They never knock the only way I knew something had been delivered yesterday was I got an email notification it had been delivered - it was sitting on the doormat outside (and I was in) Royal Mail seem to be the only ones who bother with "sorry you were out" cards nowadays

This needed id - they'll usually ring and then knock before giving up around here anyhow when a delivery needs id. For some reason this driver didn't ring or knock came to the door and spent a whole minute looking in the window before walking off again and failing the delivery. Dunno what happened unless the guy had some kind of memory lapse and thought he'd rung and hadn't.

Turned up Thursday fine though.

Curious - I didn't complain about the delivery but got this email today:

AFAIK it wasn't an issue with delivery information anyhow and that is already filled that out as appropriate.

I've found amazon can be variable on delivery, and I suspect that if the traffic in my small town is bad, or its a new guy the driver is sometimes a bit quick with the "couldn't find the address" button. However, to be fair I've always found them to be great on refunds.

Just today, I had a "battery low" on a smoke detector that I bought last year that had a 10-year non-replaceable battery. Despatched by Amazon, but not "sold by".

Got onto them, thinking this is going to be a tough one, given the item was more than a year old. Chat agent pretty much immediately offered full refund for return. Did the return at the PO and a couple of hrs later got the email to say the money was on my amazon balance. But it gets better, I got 2 emails, they refunded each of the TWO smoke detectors I ordered on the one order, even though I was only returning one, So £80 back instead of £40.

Go onto the chat again to explain they'd refunded the entire order, but I was just sending one back, and the agent said don't worry keep the money as good will. I actually restated the issue in different terms in case he/she had misunderstood me, but it was reconfimed that they were only expecting one detector back, but the refund was for the entire order, and to keep the money as "goodwill".

Moron Amazon Logistics drivers at it again. Delivery came today. Instructions say to leave the item in the porch, which is always open when I'm expecting deliveries, so instead of that he tapped on the front room window (where I was sat) then put the parcel right in front of the porch door so when I tried to open the door it got jammed underneath and blocked the door forcing me to intentionally damage the box to get the door open. ******* idiot then said 'I didn't think it was open' when I challenged him. How did you not think it was open? You didn't even try the handle!

I ***** hate Amazon Logistics. Worst delivery company ever!
Quoting myself as yet again Useless Logistics left the delivery in front of the porch door blocking it! WTF is wrong with these morons?

"The delivery instructions say leave in the porch, so should I just check the door handle? Nah, sounds like effort. I'll just dump it in front of the door instead 'cos that's easier for me."

*****!

The wife ordered some foot cleaning stuff, looks like an electric shaver to get rid of the thick skin on the foot and the driver ask for an id, I though they only ask for dob and for alocohol and pointy cutting/stuff only. Is this normal now?I refused the delivery and ordered from ebay instead.
