What film did you watch last night?

Hacksaw Ridge. Fancied a film with the outcast main character that turns into everyone's hero. Great film with quite brutal effects, which were a bit over the top with the bullet wounds and blood, unlike the more realistic Saving Private Ryans bullet wounds and less blood. Amazing to see and hear Doss at the end too. Solid 9/10 from me.

Athena - 5.5 / 10

From reviews on here I was expecting an all out action movie, what we got was a French action movie.....so there were more long dramatic pauses and moody stares than any actual action.

At times, the overly dramatic music and scenes made the film feel it was in the wrong setting, with it feeling more appropriate to be set in a castle in the middle ages than an urban estate in modern times. Oh, and the "bad guys" had roman candles for weapons.

This is a near perfect film, and certainly unique for war, given the main character's choice of not using a gun.

Think the 0s and 1s out of 10 are particularly harsh. It's mostly good, Fiennes is actually quite cool in it and lifts that act up nicely. I "get" the ending and understand it was needed to set up the cast for Bone Temple but I wonder whether in hindsight, a different character of the past could have been used - beards, paintbrush and an Aussie accent perhaps? ;)

I think it’s pretty terrible to be fair. The camera work/kill cam thing annoyed me. Couldn’t care much for any of the characters. Found it boring (2 hour film dragged) and the ending, oh my lord!

Mystic river, an oldie for sure but one I missed. It has Sean penn, Tim Robbins, Kevin bacon and Lawrence fishbourne sounded like an odd yet good mix of top actors so gave it a shot.

I give it an 7/10, with shocking yet predicable sad ending.

The Accountant 2 (2025)

I quite liked the first one and this one's not too bad either. It slows down a bit too much in the middle, but starts and ends well. Some of the interactions between the two brothers, as well as Christian and other characters, reminded me of how Arnie played Terminator 2.

5/10

It was worth it for the dance scene though :P:cry:

Yeah, that was quite amusing.
I genuinely think a fair bit of the overhyping/impressed Jon did, was real/improv? There was a point where he genuinely looked impressed and his eyes etc couldn't hide it - and lets face it, he's not exactly an amazing grade actor.
I know it would have been scripted for him to be like that, but there definitely was a point where the real him enjoyed it/was impressed, and that showed.
