Exactly 5800x3d is the best cpu ive owned and the longest only changed graphic card since ive had it.Yeh I just moved to a 5700x3d, easily last another few more years. AM4 has been a winner for sure.

Same, I can't imagine the CPU is going to be a limiting factor for another 5 years at leastYeh I just moved to a 5700x3d, easily last another few more years. AM4 has been a winner for sure.
Just watched this. Makes me feel good about not upgrading my CPU.
Supposed to be at least one more new generation on the current AM5 socket afaik, although as with AM4 it's likely there will still be newer variants even once a new socket is released. Will there new cpus in a years time or whenever they are being released be on a new socket?
Sorry if this has been mentioned before...but im really happy with my 5800x3d still and although was tempted for a bit to upgrade to the 9800x3d, im not going to..instead, ive decided to wait to see what amd brings next.

If you only use it for gaming then it's an upgrade IMO. I did the same and never looked back.Decided in the end that a final upgrade of my AM4 system would be a good idea so have bought a 5800x3d; hopefully I will not regret the upgrade (from 5900x).![]()
Jumping on now with a 9800x3d and buying the new x3d when it goes on sale 9 months after launch or so isn’t a bad shout. Can avoid the silly new ram and motherboard prices, and the teething issues of a new generation while not missing out on too much performance.Think that will be the last chip for AM5, doesn't feel great to me to get on the platform at the end , I rather jump on early on when new platform is released
Good watch and testament to the AM4 longevity! It's certainly prevented me from jumping to AM5..
