What film did you watch last night?

Was this in preparation for seeing the Remake ?

Last night this way Re-Animator
7/10

Much more enjoyable than I remember. I suspect I may have seen the third film first !

Ha, no, I wasn’t even aware there was a remake… I daren’t dabble with this sort of thing post-80s release date, I’d just be too cynical :p

*****

Oddity (on Shudder)

A death at a remote Irish converted barn looms over those close to the deceased.

Mixed bag. Some strong high points but with a truly ridiculous, laugh out loud plot let down.

The converted barn is a brilliant location for all things spooky-ooky and there are two legit decent ‘jumpy moments’ that caught me off guard. There is also a bemusing but great performance from a no nonsense, ‘I’m not putting up with this BS’ romantic interest, which I think the Irish accent helped sell.

The ‘reveal’ was not only predictable but the motive was just unspeakably dumb… we laughed out loud at how unbelievable it was:

”I will not divorce my wife… because she loves me, so I will arrange for her to be killed in the house I will continue to live in.”

WUT.

The ending scene was also tongue in cheek and silly. No thank you.

6.5/10 - a memorable setting with good spooky moments, but the truly dire ‘plot reveal’ unravels things quite a bit.

Nice review, that's a great combination of 2 completely different films, I like your style :)
Judging by the latter half, you've enjoyed said lagers ;) :P Hence the excitable formatting :P
Lol yeah went down well. I never got through the Zidane tribute truth be told. Ended up listening to some music - Forest Swords , Ben Howard, Tom Petty , right through to Trent Raznor - list goes on, Decent night. :)

p.s Drinks gonna run out first I'm afraid.

I'm glad you had a good night my friend. Tom Petty is a good shout :) Nice selection regardless ;)

The life of Chuck 9/10
didn't know what to expect from this movie, mum and sis took me blind to it
It's kinda a modern take on it's a wonderful life, if you know what the true meaning of that film is, the life of Chuck is non-linear so the more you watch it, the more you know wtf it is about, takes a while fto get it all, but it's worth it, if only to see Tom Hiddleston dance! some v funny moments too
I'm glad I watched it, 9/10

Michael Clayton (2007)

I wasn't sure if I'd seen it before, but within the first five minutes I realised I had. Still, it's good enough to justify a repeat viewing. Great performances all round and not your typical legal thriller.

7/10

A Minecraft Movie (2025)

Took my kid to see it, he loved it.

For me it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be, it was better than the Mario movie I took him to see.

I liked the Garret character, I like characters like this, a little bit like Johnny from Cobra Kai, looser/heroes.

My god Jack Black has piled on the pounds, and they just didn't need Shaniqua.

5/10

Bring her Back
I think there's something wrong with me becuase several people at work told me this was a very disturbing film yet I found some of it quite funny.
When the wee blind lassie (already forgot her name) is punched in her sleep, I found that hilarious. I'm broken.
Talk to Me, in my opinion, was a better film.

The World's Fastest Indian (2005)

A Saturday afternoon feel good film. I've seen it before but my wife hasn't so I persuaded her to give it a go. She thoroughly enjoyed.

I challenge anyone to not get a bit choked up or have "something in their eye" at least a few times during the film. Fantastic performance from Anthony Hopkins and a film that didn't seem to find an audience on release, but highly recommended non the less.

I don't see why you'd cry over a film that's plot is about a guy trying to break a world record for cooking a takeaway the quickest?

I'll watch that, thanks ;) :D

Yeah, that bit was funny, but also disturbing. For most it was the fruit/kitchen scene, plus a couple of others.

Dog Soldiers (4K) - 6.5/10.

A fun film, but the cinematography is absolutely gash, regardless if it was filmed on a budget and being 23 years old. I think it stripped it of any real intensity. Sean Pertwee and Alex McKidd are clearly having a lot of fun though. Also glad I watched the 4K version, as I can imagine it would have looked even worse on older releases!
