Hermes (now rebranded to EVRi)! Why are they so good?!

Glad we ordered item to come with Tesco this morning, Evri package still MIA and we'll get another email update tomorrow!

I've just had to send back an order where the seller used Evri. The box had been open at one corner so someone could look inside and then when found to contain only Lego apparently been used as a trampoline for hippos. I have never had a good delivery from them in 20 years living in 5 different regions. My Mom on the other hand seems to have a really nice regular driver who does a good job.

Personally I would rather I was given the option to pay more and use Royal Mail than ever use Evri.
So an update. I was asked to return the package to the EU Returns Warehouse in Slovakia at my own cost and claim it back. So I repacked it so I could sneak into the lowest possible package size and weight and paid my 12 quid. Whoosh it's in Slovakia quickly, thank you Royal Mail. Sadly Slovak Post refuses to take it as it's trapped in customs and Amazon reject it. So it whiz's back to me very quickly, thank you Royal Mail. I've seen this car crash happening in real time and had contacted Slovak Post who sent me a polite email explaining the problem, thank you Slovak Post.
So when it get back this morning I'm expecting a fight with Amazon I find a way to send them an email in the Amazon.de returns page politely explain the situation and very quickly get an email back saying words to the effect" it happens from time to time, not your fault, don't worry about returning the package tell us what we owe you". Wow, apart from being troublesome to find the email option Amazon were really helpful, thank you Amazon.

Now Evri did deliver the replacement and it only looked like it had been used as a football this time but the contents were pristine. Thank you Amazon.

So unexpectedly everyone in the entire process, except Evri, did their job well or if they didn't were really helpful about resolving it.

Used to be good for me but lost 3 parcels so far in the last month! all were to goto local argos... 2 were falsely flagged as "delivered" when they clearly were not.
Update: one of the supposedly delivered parcels actually turned up at argos last week, 9 days after evri claimed it had already been delivered. Clearly just sat on a van and was found and chucked in with the daily drop off. The ebay seller was rightly rather annoyed.

Evri round my way are pretty solid. Royal Mail are the ones who've went off a cliff and seem to have lost all the local posties and now we have temps who are dumping mail wherever they please. Of last week's 5 parcels, 3 were dumped at random houses in a nearby estate which I can't recover, the 4th was also dumped, but I ran out as soon as I got the email alert and told him to go get it. The fifth is marked as delivered with a map image that would put it square in the middle of a nearby construction site so I have a case open on it.

From now on, I'll be using every service but them. Even Yodel who turn up at 19:00 actually turn up and know where to put it alongside Evri.

Honestly haven't had any issues with any of the companies lately but I don't order a huge number of high value or fragile items. Thing that annoys me the most is that royal mail seem to only deliver our post about once a week. Took 6 days for a 2nd class letter to be delivered to someone the other day. Ridiculous considering the price.

Postman used to be a lifetime job if you could land it. But now they all seem to be leaving, because they said the company has gone to ****. It was only a matter of time after being sold off/privatised.

I've seen 4 different Royal Mail staff at my door the past 6 days. Asked today where the parcel was that another postie last Friday said was coming that afternoon was and he had no idea. Offered to show him the tracking info so he could help and got a 'not my problem'. Class. Asked another guy Sunday past and all I got was 'I'm just a weekend shifter no idea'. Official help on X ignored me for days on end then told me they'd investigate and tell me the findings in 10 days. Email to the complains channel got no response ever.

Just dire.

Was £80 of leaded solder and a few other bits in that pack I needed to get a job finished.

Up until a few years ago, the postie was a regular you could set your watch by. It's all gone to pot.

To be fair, our postwoman is excellent. She's always here at the same time every day, and she's also very attractive. Weirdly, she also delivered where we used to live, which is probably ten minutes away. She was also very attractive then. Unfortunately, I think she's clocked me.

Well they are only dropping off what they have in their bag, they aren't going to know where your parcel is any more than some random person on the street.

Unfortunately if the delivery guy you asked wasn't the one who dropped the stuff off they're not going to know, the only way anyone is going to know is for management to track the person who did the round on the days when the packages were left and ask them hoping they remember.

At this time of year they're also going to be starting to train up the Christmas temps I suspect, I know my normal postie of the last 10 years has barely been seen on his normal round, but the few times I have seen him he seems to have had a trainee with him.
RM have gone from being extremely reliable to very hit and miss, very often miss over the last few years, it seems to be the norm now that packages that should have arrived on a Friday or Saturday arrive on a Sunday at about 5pm, and the number I've seen with the "must attempt delivery today" sticker is insane as is the fact they are often being delivered at 5-7pm from the next sorting office over rather than the local one, indicating that the trucks haven't been making it there in time to ship over to the local office.
