Games you're playing, and games...

I’ve bought Silkworm and I have enjoyed what I’ve played but I don’t think I will ever finish it. I made myself finish Hollow Knight and it took me ages to get there. I’ve not got the patience to bang my head 50 times against a boss anymore. I’ll carry on but if I hit a wall I feel it won’t take a lot for me to stop.

Yeah my sentiments exactly. I can't be bothered to learn the move patterns of the bosses, I want to zip through it ,hence why I'm probably dying a lot.

I've been gaming for about 40 odd years now and my patience is not what it used to be. Likely because it's a case of 'seen it all before', so the juice isn't worth the squeeze most of the time. Same reason why I can't handle Kojima's excessive cut scenes/dialogues any more.

Now and again though there's a game worth the effort.

I picked up Life is Strange Double Exposure for £12. I've really enjoyed all the LiS games, but this one was boring. The story never really went anywhere, was loads of problems with the story beats in my opinion and in the end I was just glad it was all over.

Giving Borderlands 3 another go and getting into it, but need to be careful I don't fall into the same problem of doing all the side missions and getting overwhelmed without progressing the story...

This is that game for myself, but I get it.

Similar to me, I really can't be bothered with all that nonsense anymore. I got burnt out after MGS2, how people finished the 4th game is beyond me.

Yeah, this is it - I feel like this with some souls-likes, I just don't have the inclination to see it through (and I've finished Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, DS3, so I'm not new to being a sucker of punishment).

You have to enjoy the grind. My only real complaint with Silksong (and this isn't unique to it) is when they leave the boss a minute or two walk from the rest point, that genuinely just feels like the devs are wasting my time.

But that improvement each time is what brings me back, I was on a gauntlet on Silksong yesterday for hours, I think maybe 30 attempts, and yeah I did start to get annoyed but I also could see me improving each time, ever so slowly. If that's satisfying enough for you then you'll come back to it, if not, I doubt you will,

Last time I really felt I wanted to push through the pain was Returnal. The nature of the roguelike is actually pretty fun for me and the risk/reward in that game sometimes seemed unfair but also sometimes more than fair if the drops were good and you could melt stuff at times. Looking forward to the next game. I’ve completed some of the From games as well though Sekiro was a bit much for me and I lost patience with it in the end. Shame because I loved what I played of it.

Currently I am playing through the Pikmin games, which, other than the demo of 3 and most of 4, I have never played before. Finished Pikmin 1 a few days ago whilst on holiday. Failed to get all the ship parts in time so went back and did it all again as I enjoyed it so much. Completed it with the good ending. Brilliant game. Now working my way through 2 on the Switch 2. Loving it so far with the new Pikmin types and it seems there are a lot more puzzles and things to figure out this time. The daily cycle is still present but, as of yet, the days don’t seem to be limited like in the first game.

I appreciate what you're saying, I probably will get back to Silksong as the majority of the time is enjoyable.

Although at the minute I'm deep into Silent Hill f, I was enjoying the game anyway but it's just taken an unexpected turn that's got me hooked at present.

I'm more of a Resi Evil fan but I did enjoy Silent Hill 2 Remake, however I think it went on a bit, and felt slow.

Reckon I'd enjoy f?

Playing Hades 2 and having a great time, incredible game. It may end up as my personal goty.

Next planned is Metroid Prime 4, may get Silksong in the meantime but could be next year before I feel I'll have the time/patience for it.

I've not played Borderlands, but that problem is so familiar! I check HowLongToBeat and tell myself, I'll do the 16hrs got the story then I'm out... then 40hrs later I'm still only half way through the story and have been grabbing all the side quests and achievements on the way.. just can't help myself!

I’m playing Borderlands 3 as well. Really enjoying it and it looks great on the Pro. Dropped it for some reason so restarted as a Siren.

Well I was approaching it with a 'slowly does it' mentality investigating and exploring everywhere and so on.So the gameplay was a little slow and cautious at first, however things get a lot more action packed a few chapters in and things get a bit wild and a lot more fun.

The story is quite deep and only reveals itself over multiple plays, cut scenes change and different endings being part of the course so there is some reply value if that's your thing.

My first play through was 20 hrs, the second a lot shorter as I was flying through it nailing bosses with stats carried over to the NG+ . Still got the same ending again though ffs , so I'm looking at a few runs.

The game's not perfect mind you, the enemies and the combat can be a bit repetitive but I found the plot twist hinted at above help up the pace.

Still enjoying it here, will focus on it till Tsushima drops at the end of the week.

I am the same, but I've got further into the story this time and enjoying it :-)

Appreciate the write up, the twist comment has piqued my interest.

I'll mop up some Silksong achievements and have a gander.
