What film did you watch last night?

Strange Darling 6/10

Psychological crime thriller with a twist.

It wasn't terrible, but the back-and-forth between the six chapters felt unnecessary in my opinion. They could have just filmed it as it happened.

One Battle after Another.

Poor. Dull and predictable. Carried by Penn and Di Caprio. Couldn't wait for it to end. 6/10 and only because I am a Leo fan boy, replace him with someone else and it's borderline unwatchable.

Original Fast and Furious - 9/10

Not seen this for years and it was a LOT better than I remember. The soundtrack is awesome, but there's no way I'll listen to it when driving, as it'll make my Kia Sportage think it's a nossed up supercar as I trundle along struggling to get to 60mph in 10 seconds.

Loses half a point as I think it ends too quickly. Loses another half point because of the ridiculous amount of product placement for Panasonic DVD players lol.

The Elephant Man - 8/10

I’ve never actually got round to seeing this until tonight. Such a sad film with some gut wrenching scenes. John Hurt plays John Merrick brilliantly and Antony Hopkins is excellent as always. Very straight forward for a David Lynch film, barring a few signature dream sequences. Looks brilliant on UHD too.
I saw it when it came out and have seen it a number of times since. It never fails to move me. Really captures the essence of Dickensian London and also features a great performance from Michael Elphick as the circus owner.

Sure, but it gets another 9/10 for Jordana Brewster, so by my count it’s an 18/10 film.

Your review doesn’t match your description. 6/10 is not a rating for a film that is carried by 2 performances but is otherwise poor, dull, predictable, borderline unwatchable and you couldn’t wait for it to end.

Your review gets a 2/10.

Star Trek: First Contact 1996

Sorry going through a bit of a Star Trek movie phase.

This one I have seen a few times before but not for a while. One of the better ones I reckon. If I had to criticise watching it back now some of the Borg queen interaction is a little cheesy, but otherwise pretty good.

7/10

I always liked this one. It's easily the best film featuring the TNG cast.

It's a 2/10 without those two in it.

watched The Remaining on netflix.
Modern take on the rapture that feels very cloverfieldish at times.
It's watchable but nothing special.
5.5\10

Watched Taxi Driver. Never felt like watching it before and wish I'd stuck to that. Incredibly slow, boring build up for what is a pretty rubbish pay off. Only finished it due to the reputation. 3/10.

Venom: Last Dance. Awful, quite enjoyed the other ones but this was ridiculous from start to finish. They are in a secret base hundreds of meters underground yet when they escape through one of the walls they are literally at ground level. One of the attacking creatures got churned up in a plane engine and reconstructed yet some random alien fan not only managed to get hold of a rocket launcher but killed one whereas the general bloke shot one and it was untouched.

Agreed. Used to watch Taxi loads. Of course I did have a 406 at the time (although mine was green)...
It was just a mad idea for a movie, but trust Besson to come up with interesting ideas. The fifth element was made the previous year.

Taxi did well at the time $9.8 million budget and $44 million box office takings.

My Dad at the time had a burgundy 406, wonderful car.

The US remake was 100% dreadful.

Another decent film around that time with some great car chase moments was Ronin.
