What Virtual Reality games are you playing?

However......

I absolutely do NOT know why the heck I am attracted to and play these kind of games. I spend most of my time hiding, Alien Isolation in the locker when there was no need, or playing only in short bursts. I am really fortunate that no one is recording me whilst playing. I totally panic when being chased by a creature to the point of messing up my controls and then getting whacked. In the game Trenches you have to be quiet, to the point of holding your breath, as the sounds are picked up by the creature. "HA" is what I say, breathing..................what about primal shrieks of fear, heck even my wife hears me at the other end of the house.

I could do with finding another genre, or grow a pair...............as if that is going to happen.
You are not alone. I jump half out of my skin and swear like a trooper regularly when playing things like Arizona Sunshine, Half Life: Alyx and Resident Evil 4. :)

I once got to the point where the xenomorph seemed to drop through the vent in the ceiling, or something like that. I ran under the table and then exited the game. I have played a number of times since, but never getting to that point again of seeing my first xenomorph.

I'll see how I go with Arizona Sunshine......

That is almost kid-friendly, a couple of jump scares when a random one gets behind you, but I found this one more fun than scary. I hope there's a 3rd, instant buy..

That is my impression so far, trying the 2nd out first, having bought that, and then going to try out the 1st, as a remake. It looks "fun", and that is only found in Alien Isolation when I watch others play it, and their responses...! Nothing "fun" when I play that one..!
It seems well thought out as well, little things about being able to flip round at 180 degrees, as mentioned previously, so many config options.

Yes, a 3rd would be a buy for me also, based on the little I have seen so far.

Sometimes I do wonder how many gems like this just go under the radar.

From what I understand, Alien Isolation is based on the first "Alien" film. Whilst Alien Rogue Incursion, roughly, is based more on Aliens.
So, for a very tense single xenomorph experience, kinda faithful to the Alien Film, then AI is the one to go for.
Nothing wrong with either I suppose, depends what you would like to play.
I have not played much with RI.
There are YT guides etc that can help with the installation of AI.
You will note a link above that I made about the symbolic link that seems to be needed when launching it under Windows 11, that automates, somewhat that process.

There is a flatscreen to VR Discord group....

That has a AI section...

instructions and guides etc can be gained from reading and seeing the pinned post.

Nice one, many thanks.

I got my Quest 3 almost 2 years ago and played lots of different games, HL Alyx, Arizona, Walkabout golf etc. Then 18mths ago I got GOLF+ and that is just about all I've played daily since then! It is a bit addictive for an retired golfer with a bad back!

Is that only on the Quest?

I am not a golfer but did play Golf+ for a good few months for the daily login rewards (and I think they gave away a free course at one point too). When they stopped doing the login rewards I stopped playing but I saw recently that they've revamped it and I have logged in a few times to play (badly), but I keep forgetting so never finish off the weekly stuff :).

Must admit I don't play games much now, I'm either working on my app or testing it, and when I test it I do actually enjoy using it. The latest avatar in my app has really quick response times (1 to 2 seconds) unlike the previous avatars. Lack of gaming is a big reason why I recently sold my PFD tbh. If another high res wireless VR/MR headset came out though but this time with Quest 3/Pro quality lenses I'd probably buy it (if I can afford it). EDIT - would really like my next headset to have an XR3 SOC too so I will probably be waiting a while.

I also did the 2nd one first!
The remake is really nicely done too. Although I found the ending on that impossible solo on the slightly harder difficulty.. Was super easy on the normal difficulty though..

The only bad thing about AS is having to listen to the characters cheesy remarks..

I was having some issues when I started the first. If, or should I say when, I dies then it would keep to a black screen rather than reload and allow me to play. I noted a few posts over at Steam with a similar problem.
I might have sorted that by not bothering with the crowbar for the first level and just shoot my way to finish. From there it has restored fine.

So far, cheese and all, it is fun to play :)

I didn't have that problem but I avoided melee weapons as there's no shortage of ammo. Although I did mostly use the pistol unless there's a horde coming..

Sometimes I wanted to get up close and make it personal, never seemed to work out well..........I don't know why I bother as some of the Z's take so many whacks.

Can you remember if you ran it through SteamVR directly, by using the Steam Link..?

That seemed to be fine for me, previously I was running it through Virtual Desktop, even though it needed to use SteamVR as the runtime.

I always use VD but as you say this game does require going through SteamVR as an added layer. But didn't notice any problems personally..

I hate to use melee because my space is so small that if I'm out of my 'centre area' by 2 feet I will hit the wall or table with a swing lol...

Lol, I get that. What I mean is, unless I go into the other more open room I end up laying seated at my PC desk. I always have to be aware of what I am likely to hit when swinging my arms. Heck, even grabbing the gun is an issue at times due to the arms on my chair.

Got round to getting and trying Arkham Shadow, have really neglected my Q3 so want to get back into it. Good, but wouldn’t say great so far in terms of performance and graphics. Really need to update QGO and see if that helps at all.
