*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

certainly the ones I have tried seem only good enough to do the wheels before giving up, ive gone back to pressure washer attachment cause i usually find ive missed a bit in the arches.
Yeah, that's why I was asking, how long they last between pumps and roughly how many panels they cover......I wanted to use it to apply Koch Chemie Protector Wax so I assume it doesn't have to be a foaming sprayer.

I think the IK ones have a Schraeder valve on them so you can use an air compressor rather than pump them, but I guess that doesn't mean they last any longer between re-pressurising them.

any towel recommendations, I seem to end up buying one every 6 months as they start to leave tiny fibres on the cars surface, im washing them really gently and following the instructions, or is it just a case of assume I have to keep replacing?

I've used Sam's Detailing towels for the past year or so.
Find them very good, certainly haven't fallen apart yet, brought two & rotate them through the year.

Any recommend a decent rain repellent for the windscreen? i dont care for beading or detailing. purely from a driving perspective. the tesla autowipers are the worst i have ever experienced so looking for something that can minimise their use and have water run off. rain x seems to be half best invention in the world and half worst thing ever

Glaco Ultra, but make sure to fully prep your windscreen first, using a proper glass polish, like Glaco Soft 99 or Bilt Hamber Re-view, I like the Soft 99 in the applicator, make sure to follow the instructions.

Wash off your screen, check the water sheets like there is no coating at all, then clean with Isopropyl alcohol just to be 100% sure. Then apply the coating, again for the instructions, they are very important to get a good coverage and a lasting coat.

You want to be covering those chip board shelves, they will blow! I got a cheap roll of waterproof covering from amazon and some black electrical tape to seal the edges otherwise one spot of water or chemical and it knackers the chipboard.

Good spot - I’ll add it to the list to look at but I probably won’t ever get round to it, and just complain about it on here in 6 months time :P

Have had it for a couple of years already without issues

You've done well, I had one swell within days of building mine. A slightly leaky bottle. :)

I don't think you are, which is a shame - I have lots of accessories I would happily give away (if the person just covered postage) as I no longer us them.

Is there a mod per section of the forum we could ask?

I bought a Solo sprayer and foamer, I like the fact the foamer has a blue wheel on the outlet to change the consistency of the foam from wet to dry.

Some Tolco dosers, should save faffing with pouring into measuring jugs.

I didn't even realise the website had an offer where they threw in a goodie bag if you spent a certain value. That included Auto Finesse tyre cleaner, small samples of Auto Finesse citrus and Gyeon Bathe, glass wipes and a cloth.

I have something coming tomorrow which I'm looking forward to as should make setting up quicker.

quick wash and go with touchless, sprayed on then used pressure washer for rinse -
need to ask santa for a kinkless hose for cold outdside temps (it's like the winter tyres problem), the hozelock 15mm took longer to unroll and layout than the pressure wash did.

Are there specific car wash places that wash the underside of the car too? It would be good to get the subframes clean off the salt and grit during these winter months.
