Fuji X Series

Received the Viltrox 9MM last week after pre-ordering it from AliExpress. Will be interesting to compare this with my Fujifilm 8MM.

Fujifilm does not have as many third party options, but Sigma and Tamron do make some of their lenses available. The best value third party option is Viltrox IMHO.
Never heard of Viltrox, thank you. I'm currently looking at X-S10 and XT3.

X-S10 is a more modern camera with X-T4 internals (and IBIS too, it is like the cheapest IBIS body you can get in the lineup that has quite modern internals besides the XH1 which is a couple gen older, like XT2 era) but what really annoys me from Day 1 and never got used to is I was unable to reset the focus point by pressing down the joystick. Not sure sure Fuji did that.

Can you not reprogram the focus to another button?

It is set and FIXED that reset to the BACK button. It's the bottom button on the back. The issue is 2 fold. 1, every other camera I have, both Fuji or Sony, let me reset the focus point to center by pressing in the stick. So muscle memory has already been there for decade of use. 2, that button is totally flushed to the body, so it is almost impossible to press it when i want to by feel every single time. Whereas I know I have my thumb on the stick every single time.

I have looked into remapping it, and trust me, you can't. I even spoke to Fuji rep at the photography show and moaned about this to them a couple years ago. They could fix this with a firmware update but it's not going to happen now.

X-T3 would be my pick, just for the top dials and retro aesthetic. S10 to me loses some of the Fuji charm with its regular camera controls.
I am leaning towards the X-T3 still looking at the nikkon aswell to many choices!

So went to a camera store and felt both the X-T3 and X-S10, I really liked them both. The X-S10 felt great in the hand with that thick grip but I loved the knobs on the X-T3 and the fact has weather seals...does anyone have grip for the X-T3 that make is feel like X-S10?

Thats big oversight seeing that you customize a lot of the buttons..

The button is programmable but NOT that feature. The fact that it is flushed to the body is a big problem, never been able to press it by feel, ever. Honestly that is my biggest gripe with the camera. If you are happy just to push the stick from corner to corner then it's fine. I just find the reset to be easily accessible to be a huge advantage in what I shoot. It's not a problem shooting static things like landscape for example.

So I tried a load of cameras out in store the XT-5 was very nice, I liked the X-T50 aswell but it was tad to small.
The X-S20 was nice but I think I prefer the manual dials, one thing I found strange was the electronic view finder. Its amazing how far technology has come since I last used a camera.

Did anyone that getting used to the electronic view finder took a while to get used to? I had tad soar eyes after using them?

I think I will go for a Fuji camera, the size is very nice especially the lenses. I was considering the Nikon apsc cameras but they just don't have the lense selection and the ZFC felt cheap. The full frame Z F though wow, it was amazing the brass dials felt great but I don't think I will go full frame.

I was considering getting the X-T5 new but I might opt for used X-T3, I found some for £570 with 12 month warranty. Just to see if I will enjoy photography.

If the EVF (electronic viewfinder) isn't up to scratch, so to speak, as in, not as clear as you want it to be. Just use it as a framing device, that's about it. It's only there to compose, frame and make sure it's in focus. You just have to trust the AF a bit more. Not a dealbreaker really, it's not what affects the image quality. Remember to adjust the dioptor though.
