Baldur's Gate 3

What difficulty? Balanced is essentially “Easy” and Tactician is essentially “Normal”.

Oh sorry. I decided to play on tactician for this first go.

Boss fights can be hard if initiative goes their way. But if not it's very easy with my Tav.

He's a bard. And bards are OP. I play one in table top. But here I have control all party members. So optimising strategy is easy. I. Table top sometimes another person will derp there character into a what would have been perfect AOE opportunity. This doesn't happen in BG3 soilo.

Maybe having a party of 2?
Mods? I'm not sure yet

It’s funny how different people find things, I really struggle with most encounters but then I have never used any of the things that you listed as making it too easy @413x

I have a few things to do before moving on to Act 2 and have been there for about a month.

Its my bard character that has made a lot of encounters easy. Bards are OP. My dnd bard is an absolute bad ass. She's insanely powerful. I have to hold her back with role play she's that strong. So I know how to use them.
How many NPCs has my bard killed in my tabletop campaign? 1...by accident! :D

Haste and alert are super op. There's a very good reason haste doesn't work like. It does in tabletop. And alert is broken too.

Larian changed the initiative role from a d20 to a d4 (actually an improvement for pc game play for tactical players) but for some weird they kept the alert feat at a +5

A +5 on a d20 roll is fine. It's a good boost. But a +5 on a d4 roll? Broken.

And going first every time... it's OP

I'm starting to find the game too easy.
I'm not sure how to make it more challenging?

I'm not even out if act 1

I'm not using elixers.
I'm not using haste (that's insanely broken)
I'm not using ilithid powers.
I'm not using broken stuff like alert and tavern brawler.

Thd main peril now is dialogue choices and failing checks.

Playing solo is a fun challenge. Although, if you know the mechanics even that is a cakewalk for 90% of the time.

I've also now turned up trade cost to x4 so I can't buy all the cool stuff.
I've turned food to x3.
I've turned off hp numbers on enemies.
I wish I could turn off vision cones too.
I've hidden failed perception rolls.
Basically turned everything to max difficulty

You should turn off your monitor for a real challenge.
Honestly. I wish there was more customisation.
Especially xp earning. I wish could earn 80 percent xp or something. I've stopped leveling up as I've noticed my party is over leveled and the enemies don't scale to your xp. So if you are fairly completionist like me it makes it even easier.

I played this in early access and I remember thinking it was too hard on my first run. Then I figured out the way it was designed and it all clicked.

I’ve now run it solo on honour mode. So it definitely gets a lot easier once people figure it all out.

To be honest, as RPG games go it is on the easier side of things. The Pathfinder games on the other hand are much more difficult at the higher levels. The downside to that is that on a the highest difficulty there is a right way to play. With BG3 at the highest differential level there is still a lot of flexibility.

Finally finished it today after a first play through taking 135 hours to do all the quests in one run, all companions personal quests finished and let them make their own choices and happy with all those, overall happy with it for the most part but towards the end of act 3 it did show where the cut content was.

Will do another run at some point as a Dark Urge but I need a massive break after dumping that amount of hours into it.

I have just installed BD3 on PC. The first time I tried to run it using Vulkan my PC froze completely. The next time it seemed ok but I didn't go further than exploring the menus. Should I stick with Vulkan?

What controller system is best on PC? MKb or controller?

Some people have issues with either Vulkan or DirectX. Try DirectX and see if it works better, it does for me. Vulkan gives me better performance but it crashes.

If playing on PC don't go anywhere near a controller.

I'm not usually a controller guy, but I played the whole game start to finish on the Steam Deck, and really enjoyed it.

I'm not saying it can't be played with a controller. Just that playing with K&M is better than playing with a controller.

If someone wants to play this on the move, then it can be played with a controller. I just can't see any reason for someone playing on a desktop to do this.
