Resident Evil (2026)

'Not really horror'. OK!
I didn't not once think "that's scary", I did however laugh at a lot of the situations the protagonist found himself in and from the point of view of him not realising he's in a zombie apocalypse it was quite believable how he acted if somebody was as naive as he was portrayed but as a viewer knowing it's a zombie apocalypse it was all absurdly funny, it was a dark comedy

Fair enough. Horrors don’t just have to scare you. They can be gory, dark atmosphere, fears, psychological, shock, body horror etc. Doesn't have to just scare you. :)

I can see where he's coming from to be fair.

I love horror movies and while it technically was one, I'd say it was primarily a comedy. Honestly it bordered on slapstick at times, it wasn't a bad watch but the trailers gave me completely the wrong impression so the end result was quite jarring, I was expecting a much darker and grittier experience.

Technically a horror, primarily a comedy? Which is it?!

A solid watch either way. Enjoyed it.

Certainly a mixed genre (comedy-horror) in my mind, although perhaps not one you'd let young kids see. :p

I saw it at the cinema and don't regret it, but as mentioned think I'd have enjoyed it much more at home on the couch, and more so if I had went in blind without having seen the oddly misleading trailers.

I certainly wasn't expecting this to be as much of a comedy as it was. I did enjoy it, I liked how normal the main character's reactions were. The video game references were pretty funny. I think it would have been better if it wasn't a Resident Evil film personally.

I agree with much of the above sentiments - I found the ‘yapping’* pretty dissonant with my expectations based on the trailers.

*I gather this is the current lingo for films that just don’t stfu with the ‘quirky self-aware narration’.

I really enjoyed this movie, it was as if The Thing had a baby and called it Resident Evil!

The only part I didn't like was the ending, it felt rushed so from a 10/10 to a 8/10.

Will grab the 4K HDR version nearer release :D
