Paletta move confirmed by liverpoolfc.tv:

Liverpool Football Club have confirmed the sale of Gabriel Paletta to Argentine side Boca Juniors.
The young centre-back had been at Anfield since the summer of 2006.

Liverpool snapped him up from Banfield following impressive displays in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championships.

Argentina won the tournament, with Paletta playing in all seven games alongside the likes of Lionel Messi.

The 21-year-old made his Reds debut on October 25, 2006 in a 4-3 League Cup victory over Reading at Anfield. He capped an impressive display with a second-half goal.

Paletta went on to play eight times for the club.

Liverpoolfc.tv wishes him all the best for the future.

If the stories on RAWK are true then we've got a good deal for him. Surely now we're going to sign another cb before the window shuts though.

He did think we needed 1, thats why he went for Heinze. I worry having Hyypia as our 3rd choice especially if either Agger or Carra have a long-term injury, we need to get somebody in where you'll feel comfortable in him playing reguarly should the need arise.

Not a chance in getting Richards, no chance of City wanting to sell after the takeover and even if they did you'd be looking at £20m+.

And its Le Tallec or were you being funny?

He's well known as Le Talent, for the obvious irony

Id like to see us *try* and bring Richards in, but the price and lack of first team football would probably be limiting, would have to let hyypia go too.

I think we'll be back in for Chiellini

I don't think we're after a lb, Rafa said at the time of the Heinze deal that he wasn't looking at lb's, implying that he saw Heize as a cb. With Palleta going i can't see us letting Hyypia go even if we do sign anther cb.

I cant believe nickg just insulted one of the best (welsh) wizards in the current game - Giggs is still a fabulous player (admittedly maybe shouldnt be taking so many corners, but he took a great one today) and while he may not have the legs that just go on and on like they used to , like Scholes his brain just seems to work faster than most people in the general opposition.

Certainly dont want defoe - think the 6ft2 height of Berba and his crafty skills that were on show today would be magic but he simply isnt going to move this season , we are done in the transfer market , dont think anyone will be sold either (maybe a few loans, but unlikely)

Problem is, Giggs hasn't performed for the last 2 seasons consistently. As for Giggs and Scholes being one step ahead, judging from what we've seen this season, they clearly aren't.
We can't continually defend Giggs and Scholes out of loyalty, the fact is Giggs specifically hasn't been performing for too long and he really shouldn't be in the first 11.

I agree.

Giggs hasn't been a first choice United player in my eyes (and the same goes for most of the Utd fans I know) for the past couple of seasons.

Giggs at has best = out and out winger, one of the worlds best, as dangerous from deep in his own half as he was up the other end of the pitch due to his pace and abilty to run at defenders with the ball. That simply isn't part of his game any more, certainly not the main part of it as it once was. Without it I don't really see what's in his game that makes him such a mainstay in the starting lineup.

I see Nani as Fergie's first genuine attempt to replace Giggs long term. Up to signing Nani we hadn't signed anyone with a realistic chance of taking Giggs' place in the starting lineup, they were mainly squad players to come in and give the main players a rest, the best of these being Park who for me is an excellent squad player, but still not regular starter material.

You can say that about the whole squad - or at least those that have played.
Cant really blame just those two

Genuinely thought they both did pretty well last season. Yes Giggs shouldnt take corners (even though one yesterday was pretty top notch to the far post) I still think their experience gains us lots of points even if they dont assist directly
