CS:GO Discussion

The previous version was exactly as you say, a toned down version of the DT770's with some rough edges. The is the new version aka not as good so that really depends upon version number.

I was talking about the AD700x's not the closed cup non x version. The bass is tight and musical while not being overpowering (most people would consider these bass light). The major issue a lot of people will have with headset's such as the 700x's is that pronounced treble bump about 7k but that is easy to mitigate with eq. Also as a jazz fan I would ahve thought you were a fan of the 700 series? They are excellent for most woodwind / brass instruments.

HD 598's are great for music why do you have issues with those? Yes they aren't ideal for wubstep but that's why we have eq's (remember never boost frequency's only cut).

Dont get me wrong, I personally love the AD700/K701/Q701 kind of sound (AD700s were God-like for a bit of Cannonball and Coleman and my Qs are just as good), my point was that many prefer a more warm, fun sound signature - the number of options for warm sounding headphones vs more analytical flat responding ones in the market is indicative of that :p Regarding the HD598, same explanation. I did find them a bit recessed though, but I only personally demo'd the 598 for about 20 mins with my phone as a source - quite likely the reason behind that.

I have a SS Siberia V2, and I have lent them to people who consider themselves audio philes and have tons of 'pro' headsets (senhaisers, or however it's spelt) and they always told me they sound surprisingly good considering they are not too expensive and they are under the 'gaming' tag. Obviously, people just disregard them because they are 'gaming' headphones and they come from a gaming-oriented company, and not from so pro 1337 sound company like seinheisers/phillips or whatever. Granted, they don't compare to a 300/400 quid headet, but since when does a peugeot 106 compare to a Bugatti Veyron?

I'm sorry, Nik, but the Siberias are absolute trash, even when compared to ~£40-60 headphones. On top of that your argument is very deeply lacking - 'audiophiles' do not disregard gaming headsets because of the brand/ing; they disregard them because they lack clarity, separation and are often bloated with bass creating muddy mids that are useless for gaming. Most gaming headsets have a very similar sound signature because a lot of the mainstream gamers out there are more biased to hearing explosions and having the bass reverberate around their heads than having pinpoint stereo accuracy as they find it to be more involving and immersive - hence the advent of those BS '5.1' and '7.1' headsets, which are nothing but a gimmick.

Oh, and Sennheiser/Phillips are not quite a "so pro 1337 sound company". Both actually cater more toward mass marketing and the general population than the audiophiles.

Says the one who kept raving on the palm grip for ages, then when you described your grip we noticed you are not even close to a palm grip. Also, you are one who trashed all the new mice without even trying them. When you bought 2 'new' mice, you returned them within days, because Intelli mouse master race. Also, you said Overpass was bad before even trying it because 'it was not in 1.6'. Sorry, but I am not able to take any of your 'technical' advice because you base your opinions on other people's reviews, and what you read (which ain't always credible sources it seems).

First version Clouds / Qpads were knock off Beyer DT770's so well worth it. They are no longer the same.
So that's the black ones, right? The new ones have white/black theme.
Is it me, or do HD558's have more bass than 668b?

Well said, what kind of music genres do you mainly listen to? I'm assuming you prefer brighter headphones?

Edit:

No offence but I wouldn't fallback on your opinion, as you told me after my description that I'm using claw grip which was wrong. I use palm grip, sometimes hybrid grip when doing quick swipes during 1vs3. But the reason for this sort of grip is due to my low sens, which makes it hard to turn around fast enough if someone is behind me.

The quality of mouses today has dropped, a good example would be logitech which in terms of build quality and the feel of the surface has dropped massively... The manufactures I would go with today are monoprice, zowie, mionix, Corsair and if I had to pick anything else from the list I would prefer to pick TT Esport than e.g. Steelseries/Razer.
The list of mouses I have owned/tested:
Steelseries Ikari Laser and optical
Steelseries kinzu
Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0
Microsoft WMO
TT Esports azures
Razer Deathradder 1800 and 3200dpi versions
Razer Naga
Corsair M65
A4tech 710bh
A4tech 747
Zowie FK1
Mionix Naos 7000
Logitech g400
Logitech g402
Mad Catz R.A.T 7
Gigabyte M8000X - I can't remember exactly if it was this one, as it was some time ago.

I will definitely never buy steelseries or razer products ever again, they were the first ones to brake on me and some of my other friends/clan members.

Wrong person dude.
- I've had three mice in my entire life - a noname brand from G4ME, a G400 and an EC1. Never owned an 'Intelli mouse'.
- I have never uploaded pics or described my grip. Incidentally, I use a hybrid between the two grips. Claw for smaller movements and palm for larger movements.
- I never played 1.6, dont know what maps there were or were not in the map pool, CSS was the first CS game I played.
- The first time I ever played overpass was with you, Flighty, Hazy and others on the community server and actually rather liked it (still do). As I had never heard of it, opinons were reserved until after I played it.
- All my statements above are taken from my own personal experience with them, I have spent a lot of time demoing items.

Apology accepted, you delusional moron

I actually prefer neutral analytical headphones, like the AD700s and my current set (Q701s). Damned near bought the K701s, which are even flatter in response than the Qs.

My music taste cannot be described as anything but eclectic. I covers everything from dubstep (the original roots stuff like Digital Myztiks, not the new Skrillex, Guetta, etc nonsense) to jazz, death metal to baroque :p

That wasn't me. I know **** all about grip. I was just lurking with 2/3 other people that time. I even needed to google the grip names. When I just bought my mouse, I just bought what was best/cheapest, without considering any grips.

Jesus wept. I mis quoted and you post a wall of text.

Anyway: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=154
That is the headset section. You can post your BS there. Everybody is here because of CS, not any headset related posts.

Rjkoneill you might know PC parts but I know sound ;)

Sound previous artists I have worked with..The Cure, Snow Patrol, The View, Bad Company etc etc

Cool. My girlfriend is a sound engineer. But you've made the assumption I have no idea about sound at all.

The guy wanted a gaming headset on a fairly tight budget so that's what I suggested.

Either way, he has the hardware forums available to him if he wants more info

My Plantronic 380s are perfect. I can hear exactly where my killer shot me from :p

I've been playing a bit of casual to get used to it and learn the basics. I almost cried when I saw what had become of my beloved Assault map; as campy as it was I sunk 100s of hours in to it on Source and previous versions. Ye gods, the skylights! :D

Ok so STOP playing casual, everything you see in this game mode is wrong and will only make you do stupid stuff. Play some death match to learn the guns. The main guns you want to learn are the M4A1/A4 and the AK47 (pls don't use AWP on Dm until you may have decided to become an AWP'er).

Assault.....erm, no one plays that map...unless they are insane

Whats your profile for the keys, I'll keep you on flist for when people asks? but helps if you build rep. onscreen would be good to have leave some?

Whats the good alternative to Siberia that costs the same ? Am I not right to say sound of CS is junk anyway, I quite like the nosia music pack though :p

I bought Siberia because it was on offer and it came with a nice mouse. I had £5 mouse and the siberia I gave away but seems comfortable which is probably a bigger thing then the actual sounds on cs

they were the first ones to brake on me
Logitech stuff always seemed pretty durable, still have a mouse from 10 years ago

I always played office as the one css server which worked had it 24/7. 'nobody' plays hostage maps on cs now but I still like them. Anyone remember VIP mode :D

I need to buy the small screwdrivers set to open up the g400 and fix the cable. I will still use that mouse, as its great :)

For headphones and in-general all you need to know is in this POST (videos mainly)

Edit:

The Hyperx clouds (1st gen black ones) are apparently really good, not sure if you can still find them somewhere. But if you're not stubborn on getting 'gaming' headphones, than I would recommend watching these videos and depending on budget/needs you can find the correct cans, you'll also find tons of reviews on the net.

Edit2:
This could be interesting to see pro's heartbeat during LAN's :D

Many fond hours spent on as_Oilrig, fond as T, hated CT lol.

I use my Webcam Mic (Logitech C270 as I remember) and a set of Goldring DR50 I got for a tenner on offer about 5 years ago, fantastic headphones especially for the price.
