How do people handle their drink?

[possible myth] I did hear somewhere that a high percentage of Chinese people are somewhat allergic to alcohol, such that it causes a bigger set of side effects than for non-sufferers. If OP is of Chinese ancestry, then that could be a factor (assuming it's not a myth).

I've got an intolerance to beer, have had three one night, not been drunk, drink water anyway, but been horribly sick the next morning. I rarely have any these days and when I do I just have the odd one pint.

If I'm drinking while gaming I tend to drink wine, when I'm out it's either wine or spiced rum + coke (or just coke if I'm driving). I can take quite a few drinks before I don't know what I'm doing and haven't been in that state for years.

Alcohol affects different people in different ways, but maybe try spirits or wine instead of beer and see how it affects you.

OP, you may be focusing on the wrong thing. If you are on a night out with friends then the enjoyment should come from being with your friends.

The drinking can aid in hilarity (and be a topic of conversation all its own) but I find I don't go out to get ****ed. It just happens as a by-product of socialising with my mates!

As for what you are drinking, why not try something new?

Doesn't help that I'm missing a bodily organ mind :p

Most people usually lose their phone at a bar...

I'm a CAMRA member, that fizzy yellow water they call "beer" and sell in most pubs is just garbage and full of crap, just about the only beer on pump at most pubs that I can drink is usually Guinness and even that's not amazing.

To be fair, a lot of what CAMRA considers to be good beers are also crap.

I've always thought it's wise to stay upright, I don't like being a burden to others so never let myself get drunk enough to need looking after.

Whenever you go on a night out, there always seems to be 'that one guy' who is a liability to the group....

This. Definitely this. I never let myself get to the point where I can't make my own way home. I have "that friend" who nearly always needs to be rolled into a taxi. Bloody annoying and I would never wish that on anyone!

I do some of my most stupid things while sober so I don't need drink to loosen up :D Though if I am going out and drinking, I usually drink 2 or 3 pints reasonably quickly then anything after that I drink slowly to maintain a level of slightly drunk.

Can't really remember the last time I went out on the drink, think it was 3 yrs ago lol.

I used to just knock a few pints back at the start (3-4) then go to spirits and drop out of the rounds game. Always try to drink water somewhere, even if it's before you go to bed.

Really just know your limits.. if you ain't having fun while at them then its not for you.

We are all different, at no point during a drinking seasion will I ever not care which sucks for me but a lot of people are like that.

After 6-8 double Jack Daniels depending how I pace myself nothing else really happens, if I keep drinking heavily double vision sets in and I know it's time to go home, I don't drink beyond that as it's going to make me feel horrible.

I'm very envious of people who don't need to drink a lot, people whose personalities change when they drink should stay away from the stuff.

My tolerance seems to be reducing every time I go out which is fine with me as I don't go out often anymore AND it means I spend less money. I tend to just go out for Birthdays etc now.

I used to drink beer the whole time I was out but that left me feeling bloated and disgusting the next day - even when I wasn't drunk. Then I switched to Ales which worked for a while then I started feeling the same.

Anytime I go out now I just drink spirits which is much better and even though im not drinking much I still have a glass of water every other alcoholic drink.

Without going out I still drink glasses of wine during the week with dinner but that's it :D

Some people know their limit very well but still drunkenly go past it when surrounded by people who are getting drunk quicker etc. I know I have surpassed mine on occasion due to being "caught in the moment"

I started homebrewing and drunk far too much for about 6 months or so.

Stopped the silly drinking levels now, but I can still drink like a fish.

So practice lol. Was starting to get some shakes in the morning at the end, so thought I has better nip it in the bud while I still could :O

Wine, cider, champaign or lager generally put me out of the game before it even starts. I get tired and develop a headache. So I stay away from them.

I'm good with vodka. Something simple like vodka+cranberry or orange. Or when I'm feeling fancy (and depending where I am) I like the occasional White Russian. Another plus to vodka for me is that I tend to get wiped out when I hit the bed, no spinning room hell, it turns my lights out :p
