The kids just tend to knock on the doors with lights on/decorations. We don't get much bother nowadays, used to be much worse a few years ago.
Was the same at our old place in NE London : no Halloween decorations = no knock.No pumpkin outside/in the window, no trick or treaters. That's the rule round here and I think it's great.

I've got no interest at all in some American holiday that means absolutely nothing here in the UK.
Never took part in this American holiday funny enough.
As above...My area turns into mini America on Halloween
Village has a "no decorations, no knocking" policy so have never had a problem since moving here
