2016-19: Trump is a fascist!!
2020: We have to impeach Trump because he is a danger to the constitution!
Now: Trump is evil for telling people to exercise their 1st amendment rights and not to listen to authoritarian (DemocRat) state governors who want to keep the economy in perpetual lock down because economic armageddon is their only chance to win the election and cover up the 2016 campaign spying.

It's impossible to have a discussion about why you'd support Trump because the other side will not allow a discussion and don't want one.

The "discussion" from their side is this: "If you don't completely agree with me you're mentally ill!" or "If you don't completely agree with me you're evil!"

That's not hyperbole - it's exactly what they say. For example:

Guff. A discussion has been attempted many times in here and in the SC thread but, in the majority, nobody responds with anything of meaning.

You get wild conspiracies, deflection and utter balls on the whole. Its not a wild leap to claim mental issues for some of the ***** that gets posted.

If someone tells me that the earth is flat, there is no discussion to be had, they are mentally ill.

Anybody who doesn't think Trump is an abhorrent and utterly pathetic person is basically a flat earther. They are denying every fact in front of them.

It's true that "in the majority, nobody responds with anything of meaning." but it's true for both sides.

That thread would be an unusual place indeed if that's true.

I've not seen any examples of attempted discussion anywhere, so I am sceptical of claims. I have seen "You're mentally ill fascists!" being passed off as "attempted discussion", so I am even more sceptical of claims.

One could very much make the case at this point that supporting him raises many alarming questions about a persons ability to stay grounded in objective fact, judge the character of someone, have any integrity, hold some sort of moral compass.

You see the trouble, is that most of the time, arguments FOR Trump are not based on objective facts. This is why he has to lie and flip flop on everything all the time. There is no reasonable argument to be had.

Instead, it is simply an uphill battle to try and get people who are taken in by this contemptible con man, to see the objective fact that he is an awful person and someone who shouldn't be anywhere near the presidency.

With Trump, this is no longer a political discussion. It is more akin to an intervention.
