The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

Idk, i see that for some reason some intel CPU's (like 10900K) are scoring higher than the AMD CPU's. A Radeon card owner will more likely use an AMD CPU so he will be disavantaged if the leaderboard is based on the overall score.
This bench does favour Intel CPUs that is true. Timespy Exteme is a bit more balanced on the CPU side though.

If one wants to check what is the best video card he will see the best overall systems instead on these topics. That's why i said the tests are flawed. They should be based on graphics score.

I think it's kinda nuts that my Nitro+ RX 6900XT overclocked with 303W max power draw has a Time Spy score (GPU 21032) that's only about 50 points higher in than my overclocked Asus ROG STRIX RTX 3080Ti, but Forza Horizon 4 Benchmarks nets 195 fps with Radeon and 175 fps with Nvidia, at 1440p.

Since then I've been using the 6900XT in my 1440p rig with my Asus VG27AQ 1440p @165Hz monitor, and using the 3080Ti in my 4K 60Hz rig plugged into my 55" HDTV. This way the one that has DLSS and faster ray tracing is where it is needed the most, for 4K Gaming with RTX turned on (i.e. Cyberpunk 2077).

Interestingly, the 195fps with 6900XT is 88% GPU limited with my 5950X. With my old i7-11700K the 6900XT was 41% GPU limited at 188fps (so the old CPU was limiting it more than the new one, for those who think only the GPU is important for FPS). FWIW, my son's MSI GXT 3090 hits 175fps with a 5950X at 50% GPU limited, so about the same as my 3080Ti. We put my 6900XT in his rig while he is water blocking his GPU, and he hit also 195fps with my 6900XT in his rig with Forza.

Think this model has quite high hotspot temps though, so would suggest putting a block on it if you go down this route.
Ye, possibly not the best card. At least the price is £150 down on anything else I've seen recently.
Finally going to get a Unify X ordered after my 986 mile road trip over the last 11 days.

@amigafan2003

I've used liquid metal on a gpu previously after masking the area around the die. I wouldn't want to try it in my current vertical GPU setup though.

If I do it then i'll use regular paste for peace of mind. I have a load of Gelid thermal pads somewhere too.

Done!

Temps as follows (junction/edge temp):-

Stock - TS 1 59c/90c, TS 2 59x, 93c
Gelid - TS1 50c/77c, TS 2 52c/82c

Max power was 425w.

Think I need a total reformat, playing bfv last night and had some framerate drops below 60, 4k60 max settings but the 6900xt should tear through that without even thinking. Already done a safe mode ddu nvidia driver nuke.

Are you using DX12 mode?

That looks a bit better. :)

Decided to downgrade my Arctic AIO from 420 to Arctic 360 A-RGB, mainly so that I can now fit the Toxic 360 rad into my case properly rather than having the roof off and resting it on top.

Due to the downgrade and having more space, I was also able to have the barbs at the bottom rather than the top for the Arctic AIO. Should mean I get less gargling noises and I've certainly not heard any so far.

Looks a lot more tidy than it did, but it was a tight fit getting everything into the Phanteks P600s case.

Back's gone now with all that bending over.

@Kaapstad - Please can you update my picture for the roll of honour? Thanks. :)

Last thing I need to do is replace the rear fan for an Arctic A-RGB 120mm fan to match the CPU AIO.
