*Official* Antec P182 Case's,Builds,Modifications & FAQ's

Nice work, tim. Was getting the rear panel back on a bit of mission? :)

Here's mine that's quite similar. Not running yet because the Q9450 is still not in stock. Very pleased with the cabling visibility given there are five case fans, two HDDs and all the rest in there.

If I want to change the exhaust fan do I need to cut the wire? As it's attached to the controller. Anyway to remove it without destroying it?

Oh and how to remove the bottom fan? Which isn't really necessary.

The stock fan switches pop out of the little holding block. No need to cut it.

Bottom fan - force the plastic tabs of the mount away from the metal section with a flathead screwdriver or something. Not too hard but you do risk breaking them.

Thanks managed to do both without causing any damage. However mounting my DVD drive was quite tricky as I put the "loader" thing on backwards!! It's not so obvious. They should really include a diagram of some sort in the manual - I've heard other people do that. Made a scrape along one of the drive bays :( It's internal so not so bad.

Had to rely on a image from a review!

Yeah, those rails are a bit ropey. I'd rather they had just used traditional screw mounts. Who needs or wants instant slide out optical drives anyway?

It'd make sense if the rails contained some sort of vibration or noise damping, but they don't. Optical drives can be very noisy and it seems strange that Antec didn't attempt to combat this by putting the same siicone mechanism as is used for hard drives.

Uploading my pics now :P

speaking of the fan switches..... i was planning to take out top fan, and leave the rear fan. is it possible to separate them from the holding block?

Both fans "controllers" attach to the back of the case by a clip and can be removed individually. I've removed the top fan and the lower chamber fan. Both aren't necessary. If you cover the PSU case vents it will draw air from the front cooling the hard drives.

Alex - Thanks for the picture of ASUS DVD-ROM I could have done with that earlier!! I had it mouted the other way, as I assumed it clipped from the back for some reason.

Just removed the lower fan bracket, as it was blobkuing my rather large PSU.

BTW..is Antec support good? Cos I have a loose usb connection on the front.

I'll need to get a new front panel..

I had a missing screw and they sent that within a week. They send parts from america, however, I did ask for them to send a 2 or 4 screws just in case, but they said they can only send me one because I am just missing the one. It cost them $11 for postage on their side, all I got was that one screw!

Blimey...one 'itty bitty' screw.

Good service. Maybe it was 'stupid red tape' that stopped them from sending any more.

One of the USB ports on the front of mine is broken :-(

Reckon I'd have to pay for a new one?

Well I just emailed their support and told them that the usb port was broken.

They emailed me back and told me I'm getting a free part - the whole front panel .

I have found that the front usb ports are fragile - if it's in the warranty don't tell them how it happened - just say something along the lines of what I did.

I just said - "the usb port isn't working properly - loose etc'. So the blame goes onto them (design-fault etc) .

They were very quick with their response - totally free part.
