*Official* Antec P182 Case's,Builds,Modifications & FAQ's

Just purchased the P182 case, along with a fresh copy of Vista 64bit and Office :D
More components will be on their way this week :D

Well can't solve the issues so had to take the plunge and buy new mobo and cpu, just a quick question if anyone has a Corsair HX 620w PSu and an Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard am I going to need any cable extensions for the PSU, would like to get these before the mobo arrives so I can build and not have to hang around too long chasing cable bits.
Thanks.

I have this case now and the same PSU and Mobo as you. Haven't got round to building it yet fully but I have fitted the PSU and some case fans. Looks to be plenty of room for the cables from the PSU to reach the Mobo from what I can see.
If you look back in this thread there are some pics of people with the 620w Corsair PSU fitted and cable length doesn't seem an issue.

After the couriers destroyed a P182 I modded for someone last year I was left with a bare chassis, the side panels and front panels are 100% fooked, they were scratched to pieces.

So I powdercoated the chassis white at the same time as a V2000, made some new side panels out of translucent blue acrylic, new roof made from white acrylic and i'm currently working on a new front panel.

Still need to do cable management and wire up some white LEDs but its about 90% finished so far. :)

Oh and temperatures on the overclocked quad:

2. I bought an Asus DRW-2014L1T 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer Lightscribe ReWriter from OCUK of course (typical it's on 1 week special now :)) when I tried t fit it into the P182's 5.25 driave bays with the rails it stands proud by about 10mm when the rail is in the locking slot, I have the drive on the last set of holes possible there's no way I can get it any closer to the back of the drive, anyone had this before?

Hope one of you can help,

Martin

Hi Martin check that you have fitted the rails the right way up, as I have exactly the same DVD drive and mine is nice and flush

I remember when i first tried to put my DVD drives into the case i tried to put them in from the back of the drive housing. Don't ask why... i don't know!
Anyway after i figured out they had to slotted in from the front i then realised that the drive rails were mounted the wrong way around, as my drive also stuck out by about an inch. Just make sure the bulbous part (clip part) is towards the front of the drive and then they should sit flush.

Fan facing downwards or upwards? (120mm fan PSU).

Well in terms of practicality I would say mount the PSU normally with the fan facing downwards, I say this because it makes running the main power-cable trunk very easy as it is on the correct side of the case to be fed upwards through the special gap behind the mobo.

As you can see from the photo above the PSU sits on a platform that raises it about an inch from the cases floor which is enough space for the PSU's fan to intake cool air.

I also think its a good ideal to utilise the included lower 120mm fan as this really does keep the PSU cool and quiet. If you decide to use the fan it will make cable routing a little trickier but nothing to bad.

I'm a big fan of this seperate thermal-zones business that you are starting to see on a lot of cases, in the past my PSUs have always run warm when mounted at the top of the case and I suspect this does indeed shorten the lifespan of the PSU, however since switching my main PC into the P182 chassis the PSU never gets hot, I can always feel cool air being expelled from the back.
