GT200 GTX280/260 "official specs"

I gotta disagree there :D, I've got a 24 inch screen, and I've had a 2900 and 3870X2, they were both more than capable at 1920x1200 even with some AA.

I would think most have something faster than a 3850 for 1900x1200 at least a gt but not knocking the 3850,at that res i would more likely have gone for a gtx instead of my 320 but not using my 21" crt no more so at 1360 x768 i want a card that i can up the AA's and not really have to play about with setting.
Like i said before if i had know i was keeping this card this long i would have got my self a gtx even at 1360x768.
edit:- i was going to say a GTS but don't want people having a pop saying i got a GT ;)

tbh, if no one uses fraps, and jsut played maxed out, and feels no slowdowns, (even if its only getting 30fps) then one might aswell get the cheapest to offer.

My 320 you notice it quite a bit now getting to use less and less AA,some of the time none at all and texture are getting set on low to medium a lot now

as an aside does fraps impact performance, i remember reading around the net that some ppl thought it did...

Any program which is running when you play your game will impact performance. However, FRAPS is a very lightweight program, and takes up virtually no system resoources.

Try it for yourself: Run 3dmark06 both with and without FRAPS enabled. Check the difference in scores. It should be within (or close to) the usual margin for variation between different 3dmark runs.

edit - of course, when recording, it is no longer a lightweight program, as it uses a lot of memory for storing video frames, CPU power for processing and compressing them, and accesses the HDD to save the result. Obviously don't record videos if you're looking for smooth gameplay...

It isnt new gen, its 2006 tech. Its a die shrunk g80 with a 512bit memory interface and a few more sps.

:D

No it's not, it is the first Dual core GPU tho, the biggest change anyone has ever seen in GPU design, and Nvidia dont seem happy with. this thing has ATI release spoiler written all over it.

Actually, apart from those spurious rumours that we heard sometime last year, I haven't heard a peep about it being 'dual core-GPU' since. It seems to be just one core just with bucket loads of SPs.

3880x2 scaled bad in crysis anyway so they just confirm it fot pride.

basically i see nvidia who got 1 architecture right and keeps renewing it and being cocky guys using ddr3 and putting insane price tags

aka me drunk but still im right

I, for one, am surprised that the GTX260 is performing so closely in those benchmarks.

On the other hand, nVidia probably has crossfire disabled, being they are, after all, inside benchmarks. :p

We are only speculating here until the NDA is lifted but everything I have read leads me to believe this is a souped up g92 and is not a dual core part.

Ignore am drunk lol should have looked at the graph harder missed the point in the numbers thought it was fps as my eyes when drunk miss these things lol

I also notice they did not include Assasin's Creed on Vista SP1, then? :p

And that in some situations the GTX260 is only .1-3 faster than the 3870 X2, which means it certainly isn't performing better than the 9800 GX2 in those situations.
