Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Nah, passive ones, was going to get some Lab Gruppen amps togo with them :)

Lol at those amps, enough power to drain the national grid. I recommend lyngdorf, but a speaker the size of the 50s would probably eat the paltry 200W 8ohm of the lyngdorf.

Good luck hunting, and keep looking, ATCs really are the most amazing speakers !

Whats the reason for the upside down missions?

my speaker stands are too short :p annoyingly, i have to have the tweeters near ear-level. the tweeters on the m71's are at the bottom with the bass/mid at the top, hense i had to turn them upside down. ill have to replace the stand but i paid a few quid for these, literally. it'd cost be £70 at least to replace them with bigger stands :o

thats how i used to have it mate, it just didnt sound cohesive, and the hassle of turning on 2 amps to watch a movie was a pain.

oh yeah. i can see that happening especially as the center speaker isnt match to the fronts.

Thats my little setup ...

Its changed a little since this photo, the speaker controller has gone and a third amplifier has arrived - along with the triamp crossovers for my B&Ws :) Was bidding on a pair of ATC SCM-50s last week, only could scrape £700 spare though, they went for £770 *gutted*.

Nice looking setup! Is the big blue rectangle on the wall an acoustic panel or just part of the paintwork? Do you have pictures of the triamp setup? Is it with a fully active crossover; how did you bypass the built in passive crossover in the speakers if so?

I'm not at home at the moment but I will take some pictures of the setup as it is now when I am home next week!

I did something slightly dodgy in that I bypassed the passive crossovers simply by wiring the amps straight to the cones and then applied the crossovers after the preamp in DSP (I'm a live sound engineer - its how its done on a line array, why is a hifi different, lol). I'm not convinced this is the best way todo it - as power isn't a massive issue (360 watts per side out of three sets of amps is total overkill for home, lol) digitising the signal again simply to apply the crossover in DSP seems to drop the quality slightly and seems a bit daft. Now I have tweaked the 3 way design I am very tempted to try some passive crossover units after the amplifiers, or possibly even before the amplifiers. Thats if I don't get my hands on a pair of ATCs first (although car MOT is coming up :( )

My very W. I. P. living room :)

Panasonic 42PX70
Panasonic DMR EX77 DVD/HDD recorder
Harman/Kardon AVR255 - haven't even switched it on yet! Might swap for Denon 1909 when it comes out.
Quad Lites in Rosewoods - again haven't seen power
30m Van Damme cable - Its called Van Damme so it must be good :D
PC in Silverstone Grandia case (E8200, 640GTS and other gubbins - very toight!

Wishlist - PS3 and Sky HD box

Shelves took all last weekend.

Going to make a false wall for PC monitor so monitor looks like its floating and hide cables.

Cable tidy this weekend and first coat of fresh paint on the walls. I would prefer the fronts further apart but haven't got anywhere else for them to go.

Ghastly gas fire being removed ASAP. Not sure what to put in its place and not sure on the fabled "Floating wall" everyone on AV Forums get so worked up about :)

Here's the setup in my new flat...

Still using my old Yamaha DSP-AX620 receiver hooked up to my 601 S3's... I want to change the amp but there's nothing wrong with it. Was going to change the fronts and move the 601's to the rear but not sure there's enough room for some big rears.

I'll get a center at some point though.

Covers are usually on. Just took them off for the photos. TV and PS3 belong to my flat mate.

That's also my LG HDD/DVD recorder down there. Very useful for recording episodes of Top Gear while I'm at work ;)

Here is my living room set up,

Cambridge Audio A5 Amp
Gale 4040 Floorstanders
Project Debut 3 with upgraded Stylus (OM20 from OM5) + added cork mat
XBox Media Centre, (Networked)
Old Sony TV I purchased second hand for £50
Panasonic DVD Recorder with Freeview Built in (Can't remember model - does upscaling for when I upgrade the tv)

Its not the best kit in the world, very much entry level, but to me it sounds sweeter than anything else I've owned.

My living room is really small so I don't see any need to upgrade anything just yet - except my tv when I can afford it.

Not a good idea to put a computer right to speaker. Also bunged in that wedge..
lofz, I'd buy a proper table or wall mount the project to isolate it from vibrations through the floors and up into the table...

Aye, point taken about the computer and I plan to move the project when we have decorated the living room

Don't normally post in this part but thought I would share my TV stand change (try and contain your excitement please).

The original was from my old CRT widescreen TV. Picked up the new one today for £80 from my "local 24hr supermarket". It is about an inch higher which is good as it was too low before. Also a chance to move things about and tidy / dust :)
