Need for Speed Shift - Time Trial Championship

Nikaz my car dont handle like that :( i cant get under 1.45 and it just understeers like a biatch on the last segment .

Dunno what im doing wrong but there is now way i can go that quick tbh .

Is the official patch out yet or are you still running vanilla v1?

Persil

I'm running vanilla. I'm not sure what I can recommend regarding grip levels apart from posting the 'Driving' settings I've adopted:

At first try setting Traction Control to Low. Waste a few laps attacking every bend, don't concern yourself with making the following corner at first. the point is to prove how much grip this car has, seriously it's got loads.

e.g. Stowe corner, the one at the end of Hanger Straight. Brake hard well into the red about two car lengths I'd say whilst dropping to third, off the brake. As soon as your off the brake immediately turn in hard & max the gas ALL IN ONE MOVEMENT. It will grip. On exit upto fourth running the curb. Stay in fourth drop to second for the next sequence Vale.

inam22 you're on xbox right? How are the grip levels compared to mine?

Slight improvement in time and Nikaz grip level is pretty much the same on xbox360 compare to yours.

Cheers. I can't explain how others are experiencing differing grip levels. Obviously on xbox360 you can't apply any of these Real Mods or what ever. Hopefully the 'Driving' settings I posted earlier will help. I haven't tried but I suspect choosing say 'Casual' handling model instead of 'Experienced' is probably the cause. The AI is probably controlling the car against user input in some instances, say cornering. I'll go and have a play me thinks

Right, I've had a play.
Handling Model setting

Casual is a no no. The AI brakes way too early & steers for you. Hard to get in the low 40's let alone the late 30's

Normal is OK if you turn off the AI brake & steering assist. I managed a late 1.37 after a few laps. I can't put my finger on it (maybe more forgiving on throttle control) but it just doesn't feel right compared to Experienced imo

Experienced the setting I use. Similar to Normal just feels better to me, bit more skill required with throttle control. Recommended for pad users

Pro setting requires more concentration & is less forgiving in the throttle control department. Also there seems to be less grip especially if you get your lines wrong. If you've a wheel & pedals this is probably the setting for you for realism. I got a 1.40.510 using a pad. Hard work.

To summarise I'd recommend Normal with AI assists off or Experienced for a slightly better feel.

Try Casual for a laugh. Sometimes you only need to brake or accelerate, the AI takes care of the rest. I bet on an oval track you could get away with using two buttons, no steering required LOL

Improvement. Don't think there's much more to come, maybe a tenth or two.
I'm braking a little earlier at the Vale to get good drive on the exit leading through Club onto Abbey. Before I was more aggressive & the car would bog down slightly changing to third due to too much sideways movement.

bloody hell Nikaz, was hoping to save this one until the weekend. Thought I might be in with a chance of first but this was a total fluke and I haven't been able to get near it since.

Getting frustrated with this car the rear seems to just break loose too often and i am being very smooth with my apex's entry and exit, power and braking and i can't seem too take any time off my own :(

Not managed a lap yet, but judging from the vid Nik put up, it looks to have to much grip (ala GTR) having said that Marine Iguana says it aint, so can only put that down to Nik's mad drivin skillz :)

I'm done as well, bring on the next race. Reluctant congrats to van diemen. :)
Love Spa but think it's too long for a time trial. You're only gonna get a couple of laps in.

I agree but what about a 3 lap 'Race' instead of 'Time Attack'. The best time to complete 3 laps. Not sure about cutting corners & how that effects the time given at the end of the race though. I'll give it a test & report back

it's an idea but it would be very painful if you did a cracking race and screwed up the last corner or made one mistake. Gonna be looking at 7-8 minutes wasted each time.

Still think a shorter track is better. I quite like the idea of the non-moddable cars as it should level things up a bit but the lap times this week are still hugely different.

Definitely no NOS for the same reason as the 3 lap race. One mistake on your hot lap and the whole session is spoiled.

This is doable don't you think

Right just done a test run using Race instead of Time Attack. I deliberately messed up the first lap and no lap time was registered, same as Time Attack. I then went slower on the next 2 laps.
Race still shows you your BEST LEGAL LAP. Unlike Time Attack, to access your Legal Lap Time you must finish the race, say 3 laps. Access Leaderboard (9 on keyboard) from the End Race menu, the game cycles through Total Race Time - Split Time - Best Lap Time. Each cycle lasts about 10 secs so even camera shots shouldn't be too much of a pain.
The total race time isn't affected by cutting corners so that idea is a no no.

NIKAZ your proposal seems viable, but I think Time Attack still has at least another couple of weeks worth to give.

Yeah you're right. Just responding to concerns & testing possible work arounds to the number of laps you can fit in the 5.00 min on say tracks like Spa.

Have you any thoughts yourself regarding the next combo Van?
