I almost bought a 940 for my AM3 system a few months ago never knew it was AM2+ I though all the AM2+ chips were 9xxx etc. So don't worry Zac your only as daft as me... hmmm on second thought worry a lot :p

made my day
no updates so far
tommorow im going over a mates and rebuilding his machine and fixing his gpu psu and stereo amp... if all goes well
and since the inlaws our down i wont be able to get in contact with the guy about the cpu until Monday most probably

It's ZZZAC remember. :p

He's obviously got this on repeat when he's fixing things.

made me laugh that did, well most gpu's are easy, and have a very good effect if you do it *all* correctly.
I also have a old heat-gun i used to use re flowing xbox's. Its all the same, and ive never ever had a reflow that failed, and ive dealt with quite a few rrod's.
as for the rest of it, soldering and troubleshooting internal componets such as caps, transistors and stuff is one of my strong sides, and i only gained interest when dound my amp had a leaky capacitator, its easy stuff realy. Im not claiming im a ninja and everything always goes to plan, But i almost garentee you that tomorow i will repair my friends 4850, and maybe his amp and psu.

Oh dear, you're not about to do the cowboy heat-gun fix on MM products and re-sell for a profit are you?

no, not cowboy fixing mayte, i am in time going to get a proper reflow gun, and all the rest of it, but at the moment me and my friend valentine are having a lil experiment see waehter the fixes last and what's best to use
so far we've found liquid solder flux very good :)

Gpu has blown caps, and we mabye need to oven bake it afterward, overall sucsses :D

guys, say hi to valentine, my good friend :D
as for THe "Zosma news" all i can say is, he claimed hed try and email us when and if he tracks it, but so far... nothing, so we are going to rinf him againon Monday morning

There is a time and a place to buy stuff off ebay. This is not it.

Are you ever planning on starting? I'm doing a build log soon aswell, let's see who finishes first :p

i have started, i just didnt bother taking any pictures, and nope, im not starting on this thread, i think ot make things easyer ill make a new thread and get rid of this one.
There is a time and a place to buy things of the bay
today i bought a x-fi titanium of the bay... it cost me £6, instead of the £60 it would have cost.
Thats because it was sold as untested, and seriously, what can possibly go wrong with a sound card?
It wont loose connection under the chip, because if it ran hot enough to it would have a heat sink, and other than that its capacitors and resistors , and there easy to replace, especially if you have a big soldering kit including all you need :D

Forgive my skepticism ZZZAC, but the seasons have changed and still no final PC

BTW there is lots that can go wrong with ICs that you can barely see, let along fix with a soldering iron, although I hope you strike it lucky.

yes, that "can" but what's the probability that i a x-fi someone gives you or you system pull isnt working, even being untested, the probability is it will work.
Would you sell a item you have not tested as working? ...i dont think so
