** Samsung 830 seres SSD, CRAZY PRICE ** READ POST 342

Decided to head in to the office - all hear present and accounted for, thank you - cute little usb stick... no Haribo for me tho :(

I did get 4x packs with my last order though, so happy to let it slide - lol!
 
Mine has just turned up :) I'm missing the USB stick as well (goes off to CS forum) and just for counting purposes I did get a bag of Haribo (bonus and yes I wouldn't be upset if I hadn't got any).
 
8GB USB STICK

With the USB stick it seems like people are forgetting this post, the reason it was added was because of those who were let down twice with regards to the Saturday delivery:

This is a disaster! Refund for me plox :(




:P The drive is amazing, cloned over from the Corsair Force 3 120GB and did a CrystalDisk run and a Windows index. 7.9 on the index vs 7.7 and CrystalDisk:

Also the little USB attachment is going to get lots of usage, just perfect to turn the 120GB SSD into a portable transport drive for movies & TV shows :p
 
So does it FEEL faster? I see on the benchmark it's roughly 2-4x the speed but I remember being pulled in by raptors in the past that I could see were quicker in benchmarks but I couldn't feel it?

Becoming vaguely tempted by these silly prices.. Thinking this for the main pc, current corsair 120gb into the MacBook and the MacBook 500gb onto the mm!
 
Well I won't know for sure until I've used the PC daily for a week. My Force 3 was no slouch, the access times were up there so apps loaded swiftly and the same still applies now. I'll know more as I add more software and games and use the drive more.

For the price though, can't complain at all!

Boot time feels a little faster although I've not times this I guess.
 
Going from m4 to this Samsung... I've noticed no real change in boot time, but then i wasn't expecting that.

The general feel of the system so far is a bit quicker though... I think it reflects anandtechs results quite well :)
 
Ghost

Anyone else having trouble with the Norton Ghost software that came with this SSD?

I used it to clone my 120GB Vertex2 onto the new Samsung SSD, but when booting off the Samsung drive, Windows 7 gets stuck "preparing desktop" for about 5 mins and then tells me my copy of Windows is not genuine.

Am I better off using a different program for cloning or even doing a clean install?
 
Haven't fiddled with Norton Ghost in a while.

I use Symantec Ghost & I've never had it fail on me - even when going from a drive with bad sectors -> good drive... works brilliantly.

Norton managed to break it somehow :(
