** Samsung 830 seres SSD, CRAZY PRICE ** READ POST 342

Use Samsung's own software :)

Ok, thanks mate - I thought the Samsung disk just contained manuals etc. :o
Cheers :)

Haven't fiddled with Norton Ghost in a while.

I use Symantec Ghost & I've never had it fail on me - even when going from a drive with bad sectors -> good drive... works brilliantly.

Norton managed to break it somehow :(
Yeah - saw some other posts on the Norton forums about the exact same issue; they ended up using the Recovery Console (fixmbr etc), but that didn't work for me unfortunately.
Cheers :)

To the guys getting stuck at 'preparing desktop' I had exactly the same problem with my uncles cloned install.

DO NOT make a partition on the SSD or assign it a letter. If you have done either of these, delete the partition and then clone the drive again.

HTH

I've seen it happen even without doing that :(

(my mum's - just re-installing hers from scratch to drop it off tomorrow)

Just in case anyone else hasn't done it yet. Ghost made a right mess of my Win7 clone. Ended up using Clonezilla (as I'd already swapped the drives over and it BSOD on boot from USB :( )

Yeah I'd avoid Ghost :p

I used Acronis True Image 2012 boot CD and it cloned and spanned partition size automagically :)

No need to clone - I ended up doing a fresh install as I was having trouble with Diablo 3 before the new hard drive, same issue after the clone... And it's bloody we'll appeared on a fresh install too... I blame blizzard, grrrr... Could've just stuck with the clone.
