*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Oh Dear.

I just rooted my device through HTC Dev, worked a treat, installed recovery. Then went to flash maximus rom. Now the device just seems to be stuck at the htc one screen(the second splash screen). Any ideas?

Go into fastboot, power button and volume down and flash the boot.img from the maximus rom as it's using a newer kernel, then go into recovery wipe everything and reinstall again.

Hah, I would like to think given my occupation I have both good eyesight and a better than average eye for screen quality and colour reproduction ;) Of course there is a difference, just now I have the two side by side I don't think it's a game changer. I certainly wouldn't use the word massive, certainly not in capitals :D:p I don't want to give it up, but if forced I doubt I'd lose any sleep over it.

What?!?!?! You have better than average eye sight but you don't notice a MASSIVE difference between the screens! My god!!!!! :p

Even my spica screen looked better for colours than the DHD screen :p

:D

Sorry man. I'll leave the screen. I'll just go back to grumbling about moving the buttons for those damned lefties :p

Ok, how do I refresh a page in Quick ICS browser without scrolling all the way to the top without a menu button (or any browser for that matter)? Or open up tabs without going to the top?

Edit: found quick controls :) default setting took me a while to get it back!

how do u do that?

It tells you in most ROM instructions.

After connecting the phone via USB and putting it in fastboot mode, you just open CMD (cd to the relevant folder) and type: fastboot flash boot boot.img

(boot.img being the file that the ROM tells you to flash)

Alternatively, like on ArHD7, there are pre-made .bat files just for this.

Has anyone else noticed their GPS being slightly off too often for comfort? My GPS locks on very quickly and is normally very good, but every so often it thinks I'm 20-30m to the right (never to the left). This is quite annoying, mainly because everytime I drive past a junction or parallel road it thinks I'm on that and reroutes me. Notice that there's no radius around me, so it thinks it's accurate.

Long discussion on this on xda, temporary solution is to switch off Googles Location Servive in the Location settings.

Anyone having audio dropouts using earphones? Listening to Spotify etc (even cached) audio through earphones causes a slight pause, less than a second, probably once a track. I'm using bluetooth earphones and haven't tried wired ones yet, but sometimes it's more often than others and I haven't found a reason why yet.

All updated, unlocked and unbranded handset.

EDIT:

In fact, the more I test the more confused I get. It seems to be better with A) the phone further away and B) the screen off.

Anyone else care to test?

No idea but do you have the Wifi issue of poor signals? As the wifi and bluetooth share the same antenna....

Okay, I've flashed a new ROM after the disaster with ArHD7 + Franco kernel the other day.

The battery results are looking pretty awesome to say the least. Rough usage:
  • Wifi on for 50%~ of the time, rest of the time was on 3G/H
  • Over an hour of listening to music (via PowerAmp)
  • Over 1.5 hours watching 720p mkv files (stock player)
  • A handful of pictures taken
  • 20 minute phone call, lots of texting, the usual
  • Rest of the screen time was browsing/Twitter/Flipboard
  • Sync - weather, Twitter, Facebook on hourly syncs, Viber running

Here's the good part:

Auto brightness! Quite a lot of use outside in the sun (so it's been at a high setting for quite a bit of the time at least, generally around 50% for the rest)

This is also the first charge on this new ROM so it could improve a bit more. At points it dropped more rapidly than others so that may even out. I did wipe the battery stats, not that it's ever made a difference before. :p

This is the ROM, I just installed it as normal, nothing fancy added and no extra tweaks of any kind. It's completely standard for the most part, all of HTC Sense is there, nothing has been stripped, everything has just been optimised and updated.

I know ArHD is very popular, but a lot of the ArHD code work appears to be from this 'football' guy, who seems to know what he's on about, so I thought I'd give it a try. :)

After a couple more charge cycles I'm going to add in the more aggressive auto brightness mod because the default setting is far too bright. In a dull room the brightness is at 30-40% or more and that's far too high. I'd rather have it at 10% or under in those situations. This should improve the battery life even more.

So, if you're looking for a ROM, give this a try.

i am backing up my devices content now as we speak and i will do this.

quick question. does installing a new rom wipe data from the mass storage?

My phones had really bad signal for the last 24hrs, driving me mad. I just looked down and noticed the screen had popped out the casing. I pushed it back in and now my signal is fine again. must have sat on the phone or something, didn't notice because I got a gel case on.
