*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Anyone having audio dropouts using earphones? Listening to Spotify etc (even cached) audio through earphones causes a slight pause, less than a second, probably once a track. I'm using bluetooth earphones and haven't tried wired ones yet, but sometimes it's more often than others and I haven't found a reason why yet.

All updated, unlocked and unbranded handset.

EDIT:

In fact, the more I test the more confused I get. It seems to be better with A) the phone further away and B) the screen off.

Anyone else care to test?

I've had the same issue over bluetooth and with wired earphones and spotify. Not noticed it with Doggcatcher which I use to listen to podcasts. I'm on a stock unbranded handset/ROM. Initially I thought it was the Beats enhancement, which I disabled, but it still persisted with the brief pauses.

Its the same with TuneIn too. It was pretty bad last night, but much better today. I'd love to know why.

Okay, I've flashed a new ROM after the disaster with ArHD7 + Franco kernel the other day.

The battery results are looking pretty awesome to say the least. Rough usage:
  • Wifi on for 50%~ of the time, rest of the time was on 3G/H
  • Over an hour of listening to music (via PowerAmp)
  • Over 1.5 hours watching 720p mkv files (stock player)
  • A handful of pictures taken
  • 20 minute phone call, lots of texting, the usual
  • Rest of the screen time was browsing/Twitter/Flipboard
  • Sync - weather, Twitter, Facebook on hourly syncs, Viber running

Here's the good part:

Auto brightness! Quite a lot of use outside in the sun (so it's been at a high setting for quite a bit of the time at least, generally around 50% for the rest)

This is also the first charge on this new ROM so it could improve a bit more. At points it dropped more rapidly than others so that may even out. I did wipe the battery stats, not that it's ever made a difference before. :p

This is the ROM, I just installed it as normal, nothing fancy added and no extra tweaks of any kind. It's completely standard for the most part, all of HTC Sense is there, nothing has been stripped, everything has just been optimised and updated.

I know ArHD is very popular, but a lot of the ArHD code work appears to be from this 'football' guy, who seems to know what he's on about, so I thought I'd give it a try. :)

After a couple more charge cycles I'm going to add in the more aggressive auto brightness mod because the default setting is far too bright. In a dull room the brightness is at 30-40% or more and that's far too high. I'd rather have it at 10% or under in those situations. This should improve the battery life even more.

So, if you're looking for a ROM, give this a try.

not sure what the franco karnel is but if it aint the new one that will be released soon my htc then that could be the reason for your poor battery life and not the ArHD7 rom itself.

Tempting - might try it with Franco as my ARHD and R10 hasn't been overly bad :)

Very impressive robbo! :)

Yeah, it's pretty good.

It will be interesting to see if it translates into my normal use though, I don't tend to watch videos very often.

If I can get around 4 hours screen time over 24 hours on average, that would be fantastic.

Right have installed maximus 2 with default kernel and aggressive APM mod - time for a test drive :D

Nice, let us know how it goes!

Well if it does remain to be the same with your normal usage (I think it will be more or less the same) then HTC has a lot of work to do with the X and optimization lol.

Right charging from 35% now then will wipe battery stats and report back..

My usage is usually 3 hours of music a day through poweramp, lots of texting, maybe 30 mins of calls and lots of browsing/facebook :)

You could have just put the GS3 Touchwiz launcher that has been ported over and its as smooth as butter if that's what you want, this phone is smooth with any launcher other than Sense 4.

Best part using another launcher you get the sense look for menu's, contacts etc but get a nicer launcher.

Yep i could have but tbh for me the SGS3 just seemed like a better device all round especially after playing with one extensively.

The only things im missing from my One X is the sense weather widget and the calender widget really, the one on the SGS3 is rubbish and not as nice.

Gonna put another launcher on the SGS3 and try to get some Sense type weather widgets.

If you have any recommendations as to which launcher is best then please feel free to tell me and same goes with any widgets.

Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher.

Also, let me know how the S3 battery life holds up against the One X.

So far with my useage, same as i was using my one x...the battery for me is definitely much better than the One X plus its removeable which is a plus in my eyes, in case i want a bigger battery but i doubt it as the SGS3 battery is superb. Also another reason why i ditched the One X for the SGS3 was the removeable storage ie sd card...i have a 32gb card in there at the moment..am tempted to buy the 64gb version just for the lulz:p

So its between the Nova and Apex launcher then??...do they have any sense type widgets ie weather and calendar or do i need to purchase specific widgets??.

As said apex or nova and go launcher are the best.

As for widgets, well this is probably the best there is for a weather widget similar to sense 4 ;)

Or beautiful widgets.

As for calendar widgets (if you use go launcher you can use there go calendar widget, which is excellent) or APW widgets, smooth calendar widget, simple calendar widget etc.

EDIT:

Nope they don't have any widgets apex or nova.
