*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Does anyone know if it would be possible to stream media (videos, music etc) from my phone via Wifi on the move to this tablet? My phone (just ordered a Galaxy S3 tonight :D) will have much more capacity and it would be useful to have the ability to do so if I end up maxing out the storage on the Nexus 7.

You can fill in a web form from a link on your order confirmation and it calls you back, just cancelled mine.

Theres a 0800 328 6081 number on your order email.

Thanks. Will probably cancel Monday.

I think I did the right thing getting the 16GB one instead. I've just read that the 8GB one has 5.92GB of usable space. A couple of modern games from the play store and that is pretty much taken up

You could probably do this with BubbleUPNP from the market. I'll give it a go over the weekend if I remember.

Was considering getting the Windows 8 tablet but this is very tempting for £159. As I have an iPad 2 already, I think any other tablet I get will be decided more by the price than specs.

I've always wanted a 7" as I find it easily portable and I'm going away on holiday in August so this is perfect, providing I can get my hands on one in time!

Was thinking about getting one of these, but now I am not so sure :(

Will wait a month or so to see what happens.

Although notice the way they say, that it is due to jellybean, not the device, so does that mean when the android phones get jellybean, they also won't support MHL etc. if so, I will not be pleased!

I am sure that the guys at XDA will work their way around it, somehow........

Just tried my mhl cable with 4.1 on the gnex and it works... so guessing its disabled in the nexus 7 ROM or perhaps a hardware omission - if that's possible?

Thank god for that! :D

Probably just disabled for the nexus 7 through the software, they most likely did it so as to get the Nexus Q out there a bit more......

MHL needs an extra hardware module according to Anandtech - which the Nexus 7 doesn't have.

Oh, real shame that :(

Hmm surprisingly misinformed reporting from the verge as USB OTG does work, that is the standard that allows keyboard/mice to connect to the device.

From what I have read USB dongles will work on this, however it is disabled in the current Nexus 7 build somewhere. I'd bet that there's a way to re enable it before we even get our hands on this thing.

MHL functionality is a little more confusing, by all accounts the developer version of this tablet has MHL fully enabled however the release version has it disabled.

Some people are speculating it is also simply disabled so Google didn't have to pay licencing fees for the functionality. Others are saying its not hardware capable. So I guess we will have to wait a while before people get to the bottom of this.

Yeah they said that peripherals like that can be connected, however, storage devices aren't recognized  :(

As you said, better to just wait until the public/consumers get their hands on it and see what exactly can and can't be done, too many "expert" sites stating different things at the minute.

Does anyone have any idea why the orders through the play store cant be changed?
Pre-ordered off Play, noticed the post code was wrong, did the forms to update, no reply yet and no change.
Getting seriously concerned about this as the number they list for phoning them, a Dublin number, doesn't work! :(
