**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

I would really love to get on board with the whole digital thing on consoles, but the way they are pricing their content at the moment is an absolute joke. They really need to look at how Steam does it and strive for something similar.

I also don't want compulsary crap peripherals like Kinect.

I knew there would end up being a catch to the family mode they were advertising before the changes. Speaking to the Verge a Microsoft engineer went into more details on just what the family mode provided.

He then goes on to detail a Family Sharing feature of the Xbox One that has been scrapped due to the change in policies. The feature would have allowed Xbox One owners to share their game libraries with other family members, regardless of their location. However, the engineer reveals that Family Sharing would only let family members access a "demo mode" of the game for between 15 mins and 45 mins, and in some cases an hour. After that time, the shared game would cease and a user would be forwarded to a marketplace to purchase the full game.

That doesn't sound anywhere near as appealing as before when they were advertising it as if you get the full game...

Well that article mentions it was more timed caps than you could only play a trial of it. Obviously no idea how long you would have to wait between caps and if theres a hard number of those you are allowed per game (or even per family member  ). How true that is, is obviously up for debate - I doubt we (and MS :p) will ever know.

It was obviously a feature that hadn't been finalised. I wouldn't trust an "anonymous disgruntled engineer" though, the truth could be somewhere in between.

According to the article he is only disgruntled because of how badly MS have explained the "great features", so I don't think he's disgruntled in such a way that would make him want to talk badly of the console. I think if anything he would be biased towards making the features sound better than they are rather than worse.

The only way we'll know for sure is if MS come out and explain in detail what they had planned but as they couldn't manage that in the first place I'll doubt they'll be able to manage it now it's been dropped.

Well obviously they won't now, why talk about a feature that's been dropped? People complain about inconsistent communication, it's only going to get worse if they start talking about features that aren't there any more :p

Is the kinnect absolutely not removable in that you physically cannot unplug it?

I don't know what I would do with the cable routing in that case

Yes it will be our fault that MS were inconsistent with their communication :p

I can actually see Don Mattrick use that line too - LOL

As it stands right now, no you cannot unplug it. Considering it's one of only two things people are still moaning about regarding the Xbox One (with the price being the other), I wouldn't be surprised if they make a change that lets you unplug it. I don't see them releasing a version of the console without Kinect for at least a year though, it's too ingrained in the way they see the future to get rid of it straight away.

So the awesome 'family share model', was a demo for 60 minutes, do people still feel annoyed at it's removal?
Assuming that it's true, then no, I'm not annoyed it was removed. Given the choice between a Family Share "demo" style, and the way MS have reverted to, I'd choose the way they've changed back to.

Game have the following games as day one editions:

Forza, Dead Rising, Ryse, Kinnect Sports Rivals.

Does this mean they are confirmed release games?

Wow if this is true they really have no respect for their potential customers at all! to misrepresent something to that extent is lying IMO, they had lost me anyways but seriously even if they announce they will be cheaper than PS4 with a more powerful console, I wouldn't buy one now I've got more respect for myself than that.
It almost like they have been reading the press about EA being the worst company in the world & thought we could take that tittle!

Is this confirmed anywhere?

I notice a lot of people here very upset that that sharing x 10 was removed even though MS never factually stated how it worked, but some here have "assumed" how it would work!

Personally, I can't see how you can defend or promote a feature that no-one has even understood anyway!!!
