Does LDD actually work on Windows 8 (v8.1.1 to be precise) as every time I run it, The Brick Library is downloaded (159Mb) and then the program closes!

I have just tried it on a fully updated 8.1 (64-bit) machine and other than needing to manually specify the path to some license file it works ok

Launch it in 'Safe Mode'

It takes Aaaages to download and install, but it then works!

Got LDD running and got a tool to export an XML of the parts, but it feels like you need a degree to navigate the BrickLink website

It was my 40th on the 8th June so my wife and mum went halves each on the Death Star as I had been banging on about it for months. I kept joking with my mum that she shouldn't be so tight and buy it for my son

My son's 5th party was on the 8th too and the other sets are gifts from his party. All told a good 40th and 5th Birthdays

Not quite, bought from a guy on eBay who bought it from Smyths. I only paid £20 over retail price including postage though. Pretty happy with that.
