Far Cry 4 due this November

The game has been out for almost two weeks and I still can't play it (got two 970s basically for Far Cry, if I had known about this I would've waited until The Witcher 3), it's ridicolous, even more since it's supposed to be tailored to Nvidia cards...

Weird how this game pans out for different folk. After applying a couple of the tweaks previously mentioned in this thread I've managed to get it running pretty sweet at 1920x1080. No real microstutter to mention, not that I've noticed anyway and the aiming/mouse thing doesn't really bother me. Strange, as it was the same with Watch Dogs - it ran perfectly fine for me too! Guess having an ancient rig (i7 920 D0@4Ghz, 760GTX and 16Gb Vengeance RAM) isn't too much of a hindrance after all! :D

you take ages to walk around a mountain, get close to a camp only to suddenly get killed by wolves and find yourself back at the start.... 4 miles away...........SO ******* ANNOYING, the last game was easy when you die, this is a nightmare !!!!

if you cant get a Gyrocopter you're screwed...you walk !!! the terrain is too mountainous, too hilly, too much of it, too open world......plus the bloody Gyrocopter breaks down mid air............HOW ANNOYING !!!!

too many animals attacking you at short range, the radio towers are too hard to climb...bloody hell it's everything that's wrong.

finally, without upgrades this guy is as weak as hell, so i might stop now and skin animals instead

If you keep the altitude low and skim the treetops the Buzzers don't fall out of the sky m8. :)

One thing I find weird is the day/night cycle. You can be outside in glorious sunshine in a village and pop into a safehouse to restock on some ammo. Takes all of two minutes to do but when you come back outside its pitch black. 5 minutes later its suddenly lightened up again. There just doesn't seem to be a seamless transition between times of day and night/daylight time?

I don't seem to have encountered any of your frustrations....

Think you are going about the game all wrong.

Walking?!? I just hijack cars all the time if there's no enemy ones to steal.

Gain the elephant riding ability and do exactly that, ride an elephant like you stole it.

So basically a big moan that you're finding the game difficult? The gyrocopter breaks down if you go too high, The radio towers are fairly easy to climb or use the gyro and of course your guy is weak at the start, would be a bit **** if he was Rambo at the beginning.

I would suggest you are playing on low beans given your rig. That's not an insult because actually I am jealous. What settings do you play at?

Haha. I know this. I too often get set upon by... wait for it... ****ing Honey Badgers. But as people have said just use a Gyrocopter and fly everywhere. I never walk until I am 400-500m away from the Outpost

Apparently the stutter that is resolved via the Mip thingy-change is due to poor CPU load. One CPU core always hits 100% especially when moving areas. So for now I cannot enjoy the game full spec... even with a ****ing 5930k at 4.4GHz

EPIC WORK UBISOFT. You have outdone yourself with two awful games released in conjunction (the other being AC Unity)

yea ok, but you need to do the ground missions to get the Signature weapons, you cant keep flying around like Biggles :) plus you need to skin animals as well

have you tried killing a Rhino yet :eek:

well mine is at 4.8 but to enjoy this game you'll need to turn down the settings, you can ignore all that stuff above... because on full ULTRA it'll stutter like crazy......... mine is ok now but only after backing it off.

unfortunately it's not the graphics that spoils it

there's a lot more wrong with this game than just that, this game is a very poor shooter right now, it's much worst than the 3rd game, these guys are experienced developers.... this is their 4th game and it should be miles better than this.

this game is close to ``totally stupid``, it would take too long to post in just how bad it is, but you only have to shoot at the animals to realise this....e.g a honey badger would die from just one bullet, but in this game he's surviving 3 head shots !!!!

although it's very dumb ( FACT) , it's still quite good fun and addictive too

Right, some experimentation late at night

The CPU load issue was bugging me. So I tried changing the Affinity to my cores and it seems to have done the trick

1. Start FC4

2. When in game, press Esc and then ALT+TAB

3. CTRL+ALT+DELETE

4. Find FC4 and then click 'Go to details'

5. Right click FC4.exe and click Affinity

6. Choose only four actual cores and test

I really noticed the load spread from this

Next step is to test with MipMap = 0
