Batman Arkham Knight - Official Thread!

Did you follow that guide exactly? I would avoid all the gameworks settings if you haven't already.

Could just be due to you running it on a mech. HDD though.

My game isn't perfect but it is fairly smooth overall and the batmobile parts were good too, definitely didn't get any 1-2 second pauses except for when I first load into the game.

I tried disabling Gameworks and it reduced framerate fluctiations a bit but the first batmobile section was still stuttering biblically. Anyways, I've installed the game on my ssd and I'll probably tinker with it tomorrow, maybe I missed something.

EDIT: Or maybe it is indeed impossible to run this off a HDD;p

The game didn't perform any worse as I got further in. I only had 1 bluescreen followed by 1 crash after loading the game back up.

It seems you were right, Nexus. Running this off an ssd makes a world of difference. Actually, it works pretty well maxed (enhanced light shaft off, though) at 30fps without applying any fixes and the first batmobile section is smooth as well. And I didn't even use my OC profile in Afterburner;p

Maybe I should simply apply the fixes from the guide to further improve things and leave the framerate at 30fps? Seems playable enough.

I would definitely use the fixes/tool anyway and up to you regarding 30 fps cap, for myself, it wasn't smooth with a 30+ms frame latency + the increased motion blur was awful imo.

Just did the in game benchmark using these settings:

piRn359.png

min - 41
max - 78
average - 57

TBH looking at those figures of mine and if your min fps is similar (should be quite a bit higher than mine since you have a better gpu & cpu), I would set the maximum frame rate to 50 and the frame rate smoothing to 47-53

I'm playing this at the minute and I think I can see why people are having issues. I've simply put everything to the max inside the game itself including the various gameworks options. The only tweak I have done is to raise the max fps from 30 to 144 in the config.

I'm actually finding it "ok" to play. For the most part I get between 40-70 FPS depnding on how much is happening on screen, whenever moving at speed in the batmobile this can dip to the low 30's / very high 20's, whilst gsync tries it's best to hide it there is a small amount of noticeable stutter.

The only massive "issue" i notice is a fair few missing textures. Various non important objects load in with a very low quality texture then after a few seconds the real one pops up. It's certainly jarring but it's not killing the game for me.

However, I mentioned at the start I think I know why. I'm fortunate that I have 16GB of RAM in my system. After only about 90 minutes of playing the game I notice the amount of memory my system is using is frankly insane. Not only is the GTX970 pinned at using about 3950MB the system RAM is getting as high as 12.5 - 13GB of RAM used. Essentially it's absoultely caning all the memory it can get it's hands on.

If people are playing this with only 8GB of RAM I can completley understand why so many issues are appearing!

Just for input, running bad, really slow when bat mobile coming out, replaced 8gb with 16gb RAM and it just seems to work now. No stuttering. Going to use that tool when home but RAM has made a huge difference.

I7 3770
GTX 770
16gb 2400 RAM G SKILL.

I am using 8GB of RAM..... :p But yeah, 16GB apparently helps, also read that windows 10 has greatly improved smoothness too, due to how it manages RAM etc.

Like I said before, I highly recommend the above tool, it addresses far more important things than just the FPS cap i.e. the texture pop in and how textures are streamed.

nah, I think if you add -nologo to the startup properties, it should get rid of the logos.

And yup that is ****ing stupid the amount of logos at the startup.......

Well, it seems the game performs quite unpredictably in my case. It can be really smooth at times, only to turn into a complete stutterfest just a minute later. And that's regardless of PhysX settings. I'm using the tweaks you posted but for some reason running bordlerless makes matters worse, I think. I'll experiment a bit more before giving up, though.

Honestly, I'm amazed at how broken this game is, and I thought Unity was a mess:p

It seems to run well when I settle for 30fps with all the PhysX effects on, bar enhanced light shafts (not worth it, IMO). I've set max fps to 120 in the Tweak Tool and turned on adaptive vsync running at half refresh rate, which seems to have done the trick for now. 30fps fps doesn't bother me too much in this particular game so I might as well leave it as is. Don't have too much time to play it anyway:p

EDIT: The bits I've played were very enjoyable, though. I even liked the Batmobile sections and I've heard they were crap;p

hehe fair enough, stick with whatever works for you in the end :) Hopefully we this August patch sooner rather than later.

The batmobile is fun, however, it is over used a lot especially for boss fights. When you get to about 75/80% in the game you will probably agree :p

I'm playing this at 1080p on a 970 and it's running absolutely fine. Running it off an SSD and using the Batman tweak tool that Nexus18 posted make a huge difference. I tried playing it from a mechanical hard drive and it was pretty much unplayable, even with the tool.

Yeah, I can imagine it getting stale pretty quick if it's overused like that. The same happened with tracing monsters in Witcher 3, it got pretty annoying after a while:p

I have some stuff to study today but I think I'll jump into the game in the evening to enjoy my glorious 30fps "the way it's meant to be tweaked" experience:D Well, at leat the game's not pants:p

something which has been bugging me. I'm largely enjoying the game but finding locations (particularly things like certain bomb & 1 particular watchtower location, aswell as firefighter locations) is a bit of a pain.

Is there any way to get these locations marked on the map (like, for example, with riddles when you interrogate riddler's sidekicks) or do you just have to search for them as you play (unless the distance is shown on the mission select screen)?
