Batman Arkham Knight - Official Thread!

PC gamers should prepare themselves for quite the overhaul when Batman: Arkham Knight is updated and re-released, Nvidia engineer Tom Peterson has said in a new Nvidia Gameworks video.

"I look at [Arkham Knight] as an example of where Nvidia can help a developer get to market with a quality game," Peterson said. "Warner Bros. ... made a few mistakes getting the game out. It wasn't fully performance optimized for PC. So now we're deploying our QA resources and our engineers to make that game as good as it possibly can be."

He continued: "I gotta tell you on the releases I've seen it is a fantastic game," he said. "It plays great, it's tons of fun and the effects are amazing. And I can tell you that when Warner Bros. makes it available on Steam again that people are going to be delighted."

Peterson and his team's work should also benefit PC gamers who aren't running Nvidia hardware, he says.

"We're fixing a ton of things that are not necessarily related to us. Some of it may be related to our driver, some not. But at the end of the day the game is the focus and we're going to make it great."

An interim update for the game is expected in August, though it remains to be seen when the game will be re-launched.

Yup exactly.

That news puts all those claims of how nvidia works really closely with developers to make the game run and look as good as possible to rest...

For those who have completed the game and...

Activated Knightfall. Can someone explain the true ending of the game? I'm not too geared up on DC Comics (to the extent that I didn't even click that Jason was the Arkham Knight!). I would want to kill myself if I went round collecting all the Riddler trophies and just YouTube'd the true ending but it's gone way above my head!

Feel sorry for poor Alfred!

Cheers!

I haven't started the game yet and have a bunch of questions to those who have some more experience with it:

1. Does 30fps in this game feel smooth enough?

2. Will I get away with installing it on a HDD?

3. Can I expect the game to run decently almost maxed on a 970/4790k/8gb ram at 1080p without removing the fps cap?

4. Should I even bother starting it before the August patch?

Cheers

1. imo no
2. using this tool and selecting "slow" for "pre-tuned", maybe but SSD is recommended
3. not without using the tool linked above
4. you might as well wait a bit longer

Thanks for the info. I cannot at all fathom how this got through QC, if there even was any... Think I'll wait a bit longer.

1. Not on PC at least
2. Yes I installed on a normal HDD and it was fine
3. Should be able to, even removing the FPS cap. I'm on a 4690k and 780 and ran it all at normal settings, no gameworks, and it was 60fps for the most part aside from some Batmobile slowdown at times and in certain areas it'd drop
4. I'd say so. I still enjoyed it, didn't complete it 100% though, will do another playthrough once the patch hits

Well I have just completed it and wow.... what a game and that ending! (didn't 100% it so watched the extended ending on YT), bit shocking but very good and I really hope this isn't the last batman game.....

Will wait for the big patch before playing through game + mode.

Yeah definitely get it, I think you will love it even if you aren't a big batman fan, the game world/gotham, story/plot, voice acting, combat etc. is just amazing, can't decide which is my favourite out of all 4, origins is probably the weakest game "overall" although the main issue with it was more just the basics/gameplay was too similar to city.

If you haven't played the first 2 (asylum and city), you sort of need to, either that or watch the cut scenes (at least know the ending to the games anyway :p) as the story continues on from each game. Origins is a prequel to asylum (pretty much the same as city aside from the story)

My only gripes with this game were the lack of "detective/crime scene investigation" mode, there was only the one scene in this game and it was pretty short, origins had loads and they were smartly done, you really felt like the worlds best detective and lastly the crap boss fights.... EDIT: Oh and a bit too much batmobile action.

I got 31 hours out of the game and that will double once I complete the game again on game+ mode.

Well, I've tried the game just for the hell of it and it is indeed a complete mess. Framerate unlocked, tweak tool settings applied but the batmobile sections still stutter like crazy (not that the rest of the game performs ideally). I literally get 1-2 second pauses at times.

Shame, it seems like a decent game but it's not playable in its current state, at least not for me.

Did you follow that guide exactly? I would avoid all the gameworks settings if you haven't already.

Could just be due to you running it on a mech. HDD though.

My game isn't perfect but it is fairly smooth overall and the batmobile parts were good too, definitely didn't get any 1-2 second pauses except for when I first load into the game.

GTX 980 Ti runs this very smoothly @ 4K with all Gameworks disabled except for Enhanced Rain & everything else maxxed out!

I think I am finally getting to the end of this (it has felt like the end a couple of times :D) and I am still loving this.

I loved Arkham Asylum but I think this is the best Batman game yet IMO.

Haha I do realise that would be easiest but I don't want to start it get a few how hours in and have it become unplayable and then have to restart it later on

The game didn't perform any worse as I got further in. I only had 1 bluescreen followed by 1 crash after loading the game back up.
