DON'T BUY MSI THEY MIS-SOLD TOP SPEC GT SERIES LAPTOPS with MXM Graphics

well yea i'm sure they are dealing with rest of em, no idea why its takes them so long!

have you shipped your laptop yet? i've been 2 weeks without it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't raining all week but i've been stuck inside with no laptop lol

Been without my laptop 3 weeks as of Monday I think entering the third week soon anyhow can't remember when I sent it off. Same time as misjah and neo on the other forums and none of us have heard anything since. Apart from wait till after the 26th well... it's now Feb 3 weeks without a laptop is ******* killing me

I don't think you should comment on someones competency based around their language skills. They might be dyslexic or English might not be their first language.

True, and when a support person is dealing with hundreds of emails per day then typographical mistakes happen.

Much as I accept both of these points, if you ran a business would you assign someone with dyslexia or that wasn't professionally competent in the English language, the role of interacting with your UK customers?

MSI is a multi-billion dollar corporation, there is no excuse.

As an aside, this is not the sole episode of this occurring, the majority or emails received contain either mistakes in pricing, calculations, or spelling.

Erm.....yes - theres laws against discriminating against people with disabilities or their country of origin.....

Thanks for that.

Employing the most appropriate person with appropriate skill set to perform the tasks necessary is hardly discriminatory. eg, people that are partially sighted do not get jobs as pilots because of discrimination.

If you would like to discuss further drop me an email rather than taking the thread off-topic, andy[@]msimxmshame[.]org.

No - that is correct - but a customer service job is hardly that. An individual with a visual impairment could not be prevented from working in a job where they are required to use email.

You cant really say that someone with dyslexia is incapable of holding a job where email use is required.

Instead of backtracking on that really unacceptable comment you are trying to justify it.

I actually find it quite offensive.

I provided my email if you wish to continue. I stand by my comment.

Please try and stay on topic "MSI MXM Graphics upgrade".

To be clear MSI is making an offer as an alternative to the actual MXM upgrade, that costs the customer up to double the cost of the actual MXM upgrade, this is not acceptable as you can understand by my earlier posts quoting others in this very thread.

There is a class action going on in the USA, this thread will be the main source of information for UK customers about that.

I'm glad that OcUK have the foresight to leave the thread open.

It's almost been 3 weeks and will be this Monday, I emailed Neil and he got back to me today.
Said he would sort it out Monday morning. He did apologies and said he didn't want me to be waiting this long.

They also tried to charge me £150 for a couple of small dents on my laptop, pretty much same charge break down as the other poster had.

The thing is those dents where small and came back with my laptop after I had rna it.
I never mentioned it as I didn't want to lose my computer for another couple of weeks.

It's annoying as my computer is my main source of entertainment, I don't watch TV though I do use my ps4. Mostly it's downloads vr and streams.

Can I ask those that are trading with the program;

Would you have agreed to MSI's valuation if you had another decent spec laptop to use, whilst waiting for a more realistic offer from MSI?

I ask because I realise if I didn't have my new laptop, I would be frustrated as anything waiting.

To be succinct:

Are you trading because you have no alternative or because you feel it's a great deal?

Thanks.

If i had another laptop like yours, I would have just sold this one and not bothered with the upgrade.

But since I only have this MSI one, I had to go for the upgrade as it was my only option to get what I wanted (a 10 series) which is the reason I bought it over other desktops/brands.

Certainly not a great deal from my perspective... but it does give a solution :/

also yes, perhaps wise to keep thread open... many people that were not aware of the upgrade time limit etc have been helped by this thread (im sure maybe purchased MSI laptops through OCUK and would have liked to see/participate in this thread as they see fit).

I got a great deal, £290 for the upgrade though I am a bit ****ed off they want another £150 for repairs. So will have to see what happens, I really hope everything gets sorted on Monday.

Happy to see the thread back open, and to be frank some mods clearly need their heads examining for not only closing it arbitrarily with no rules broken, but also posting personal surname information to boot. The mind boggles at such lack of judgement, and I thought OCUK had left that kind of stuff in the past.

Hi neo! Glad to see you on the forums. I feel I'm getting a good deal tbh I've had my gt80 for a year and a half pretty much since its release. I was planning to buy a gt83 anyways eventually as I had a feeling a long time ago that the gpu upgrade wasn't going to happen when there was no sight of the m versions of pascal so I prepared for the worse. Much to my surprise they announced the trade in scheme and for the price of a low end system 880 pounds I can get a laptop which is so much better than a gt80. I am very excited.

Also there's a few new features that make this worth it for me. One is the ess sabre dac built into the gt83

Hi Neo,

For the benefit of the thread what model are you upgrading from/to? Which GPU's?

And can you see a way that if fits with MSI's claim that "cost is comparable with previous MXM upgrades"?

Same here, happy the thread is still open. I'm concerned that MSI is leaning on OcUK.

As for posting my personal details, I have a screenshot and as I am subscribed to the this thread I have the entire post in an email also, it was stated that "The stance is a public announcement with MSI for all to see."

I'm shocked that MSI think this is an acceptable manner to resolve a problem of their own creation.

Are you comparing the trade in cost to retail price as a good deal, as that is not the purpose of the program. The program is to replace MSI's advertised MXM upgrade.

So based on the purpose of the program, do you think you are getting a good deal?

Misjah I know what you are saying but the way I see it is msi have turned around and said OK we aren't doing a gpu upgrade but if you would like to you can trade yours in for a discount on a new one. I know people have managed to stick a single 1070 in the old notebooks but as far as I'm concerned it involved a lot of diy that I'm just not prepared to do with a laptop if we were talking desktops i wouldn't think twice. The scenario isn't perfect but I have no problems paying 880 quid for 1070 sli ddr 4 ram and a 6th gen i7 with much faster ssds it's a total upgrade and it's that or pay 3100 myself or 2800 from various websites. I wouldn't sell my gt80 on ebay or anything as there's to many untrustworthy people out there so this is the best option for me.
