***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Finally got my hands on my N4 :D and I love it. Seems like a massive upgrade over my GS2, so smooth and fast, apps run like butter. Loving pure android over touchwiz and have to agree with the premium feel of it, I personally think it feels better quality than my gf's iPhone 4S (just my opinion). And so far I do think the screen looks a little washed out compared to the GS2 but I am expecting to get used to it. But overall I'm well impressed with it, just got to sort myself a quality case out for it now.

Not having a go here, but do you realise how many people Nexus has helped out with his information. It isn't like he is spouting fanboy crap - he's repeating facts that appear to be all over the internet.

Personally I've always found his posts helpful and worth reading.

+1, couldn't have said it better.

Nexus18 helps people that ask the question - and in great detail.

Sure, I'm not having a go either, nor calling anyone a fanboy. Just merely stating that his comments are getting repetitive.

Anyway, carry on as normal!!

People ask repetitive questions, unfortunately. Good on him that he bothers to answer them. They should probably search but they never do. :p

As for the HTC One S, it's one of those odd phones that floats between the very top end and mid-range of the phone spectrum (or it did, less so now).

Bang for buck, you can't go wrong with the Nexus 4, it's a cracking phone, though I was slightly less impressed when I tried it than I thought I would be.

I've only been on here for a while but this is one of the better forums where members don't regularly flame each other.

Nexus is one of the most helpful and informative members on here and always give a balanced view on things.

Remember it's only a mobile phone, there's no need to get het up about people views, everyone is entitled to their opinion and we should keep discussions healthy.

I have two brand new (still sealed) phones on my desk, one Nexus 4 16 GB and one Galaxy S3 16 GB, and I can't decide which one I'm going to keep for myself.

It seems like both devices have their pros and cons, and whilst I'm leaning towards the N4 a bit more, it's hard to ignore its flaws, such as poorly calibrated, low contrast display, large on-screen buttons that take away part of the workspace (I know that using a custom ROM like PA would be a partial solution to this), mediocre camera, glass back, no microSD slot, non-removable battery, relatively short battery life and a small number of other issues that makes me want to reconsider every time I think about them.

On the other hand, I feel like the Nexus is a more future-proof device with its faster processing unit, more RAM and official ROM releases for at least two more years (that's how long the good old Nexus S has been supported for).

Just toss a coin if they are both equal to your preference :p

if i were you ill take n4 since there are so many s3s around. Everyone i know here got an S3 for xmas lol

Depends what features are important to you, though personally I'd pick the N4 every time due to the price.

Never like the 'future proof' argument though, but I guess it depends how long you plan to keep it. Chances are you'll be itching for something new in a year though. :)

Going back to the chap who said they are cheap in Dubai - are they cheaper than the UK? Would a handset from Dubai work fine in the UK?

Mum and Dad are due over there end of next month, wonder if its worth getting them to pick me one up if they still aren't available over here.

I didn't get a chance to go down there last night as I'd planned but will head down in a few hours. They might be cheaper, the Htc One S comes in at £289, for example, and the cheapest online/uk is £350 ish.

Yes they will work fine in UK. All phones here are unlocked as the 2 carriers don't sponsor deals themselves. The only thing to keep an eye out for is that some phones with physical buttons have Arabic as well as English on them, which I think looks rather funky! Doesn't apply to touchscreen though of course.

I much prefer the n4 screen. Read the reviews. Its gets a good write up.

The only people who like the S3 screen and will shout how amazing it is are the people actually with S3's I find. I was the same when I had mine. Now I've got rid of it the only thing I miss from it are the blacks, I don't miss the screens ever so slightly pixely matrix, blue whites, and overblown saturated colours one jot.... Don't get me started on the Orange and Green touchwiz gash eye murdering theme they insist on ramming down your throat.

Ugh. Me and Samsung are done....

I'm sure this gets mentioned too much: But any idea when you can order off the play site again for these? (or can you now? I'm not in the UK so can't see the UK site) can't order in the US fwiw.

Have an impatient Mum wanting one...

No ideas but im guessing they will have to finish the orders from round 2 first and i think the last order estimate was 6-7 weeks. Next order batch might be around end of Jan or mid Feb

I used this site to check stocks from play store http://www.n4checker.com/

Thanks for the replies guys, I've decided to keep the Nexus in the end and say goodbye to the S3.

I'm sure I'd be happy with either phone, but Nexus 4 just seems like a better bet in the long run.

Here's what the Diztronic matte case looks like on the N4.

It's a great case and offers solid protection all around the body of the phone and the cut outs are placed perfectly.

Yes it detracts from the beauty of the N4 but I rather have a phone that is protected rather than a phone that is broken :D
