***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Here's what the Diztronic matte case looks like on the N4.

It's a great case and offers solid protection all around the body of the phone and the cut outs are placed perfectly.

Yes it detracts from the beauty of the N4 but I rather have a phone that is protected rather than a phone that is broken :D

Agreed- I think the case has too many rounded angles and adds thickness to the phone but it is the only way to fully protect the phone.

Im going to go for the ringke slim in matte black together with xtremeguard screen protectors. I think the ringke looks the best but as you said no top/ bottom protection just like the nillkin. Which screen protectors are everyone else using?

Might top it off with the buggati skinny pouch XL in glowing coal (not sure if phone and case will fit?).

Im another 6-7 weeker going to have all my accessories before my phone arrives :(

When mine arrives I want to get a bumper style case. The official bumper does not look that great, but I wanted something similar that kind of surronds the edges of the phone, a bit like the front of that Diztronic case, but the same for the back (i.e. not covering the back).

Just like the bumper on iPhones, it would stop the front or back being in contact with a solid surface when placed on its front or back. Also it would add some grip to it, as I am not a fan of overly thin phones that are hard t hold.

Any suggestions, there must be some bumper knock offs by now!!

I've got one on order, will let you know if/when my phone actually arrives!

The ringke slim case is a good choice because the phone is protected quite substantially but doesn't add much bulk to it.

The Buggati skinny pouch (XL) should fit because users in the XDA forum are reporting that the N4 fits the case nicely.

Here's shots of my Nillkin slim case which I must admit does look better than the Diztronic case but I prefer the latter.

Thanks for the pics, do you think the nillkin case makes the phone slippier than without a case? (ive read some people complain of this on xda- especially the sides of the phone) and how good is the build quality?

The reearth ringke works out nearly twice the price of the nillkin delivered.

I wonder if Wireless charging is possible with a case like that or would we have to remove the case every time I wanted to charge the N4?

There's the poetic bumper case, I've ordered one and hopefully have it later this week.

No worries Mate, to be honest yes the case does makes the phone a little bit slippier (it's the sides of the case, the back is very grippy) than the without it however it isn't that bad unless you hold the phone fairly loose.

The build quality of the Nillkin case is brilliant and the supplied screen protector is top notch too. I would highly recommend it considering it only cost me £5.16!

I got it from ebay from this seller

Didn't even know there was one in the box, just found it! Consider my mind blown.

Yep I'd agree with this, it's not as grippy as with no case, but not really slippery. And yeah great build quality, especially for the price. I used the same seller, all good.

Cheers, reviews seem to indicate it is definitely thinner than the official one. One thing about this bumper and the official one is they both seem to cover more of the back of the phone than the front (not sure if this is due to the shape of the N4).

Looks good though, and for £5-ish I will probably give this a try before the official one!!

Anyone had issues with the standard youtube app and widget? For some reason mine dont work anymore on the Nexus 4 - keeps telling me my account isnt linked to a youtube account and to create a channel using the mobile site.

But when I check (its the same account details as what I put in to Google Wallet when I bought the Nexus 4 right?) on my laptop I can login to Youtube fine and Ive now even created a channel too, but still got the same issue with the phone.

Tempted to wipe it and start again - literally installed 3 apps and 2 email accounts. Finding Android frustrating so far, just layers and layers of awkward setup, its really not intuitive - still cant setup my OU account even though thats a full gmail account :/

What layers and layers are you having trouble with?

I took like 2 minutes to set up mine and that is mostly because of the 2 step authorisation.

I didn't get a chance to go down there last night as I'd planned but will head down in a few hours. They might be cheaper, the Htc One S comes in at £289, for example, and the cheapest online/uk is £350 ish.

Yes they will work fine in UK. All phones here are unlocked as the 2 carriers don't sponsor deals themselves. The only thing to keep an eye out for is that some phones with physical buttons have Arabic as well as English on them, which I think looks rather funky! Doesn't apply to touchscreen though of course.

If you could find out what sort of price they are coming in at over there and how readily available they are that would be a great help mate!

If all checks out OK i'll ask my Mum and Dad to pick me one up when they are in Dubai at the start of Feb! Are all electronics cheaper over there? Mrs has been after a Microsoft Surface for a while - could get one of those for her if they are a bit cheaper!

Saves money buying a screen protector elsewhere! ;)

Exactly it's a high quality case and adds protection to the N4 without detracting much from the N4's look.

All good indeed! :)

I think its more things that were auto setup on the iphone just arent at all on here - a good example is my OU account, it was useful to have my uni emails and calendar stuff synced on my phone but for the life of me I cant replicate the settings I just put into my old phone on this (the iphone has a gmail setting so it auto-setups up the settings) - it doesnt accept it as a google account.

I think the layers and layers I refer is more that at some points it gives you too much information on stuff I dont really need to know in detail (like app permissions, useful I guess just takes longer to check that to install the app in question), but when you do it gives nothing at all (this youtube issue where I can log into youtube via Chrome without problem, yet the youtube widget/app just thinks my only google account on the phone isnt linked to a youtube account). I cant see anywhere to log in to the app so its left me scratching my head wondering whats happened and no real logical way to fix it other than wiping the phone.
