After a Seattle artist's cartoon went viral, she says she's not going with it.

Molly Norris drew up a sketch declaring May 20th "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" after Comedy Central cut a portion of a South Park episode following a death threat from a radical Muslim group.

Norris explained her motivation on an appearance on KIRO Radio's Dave Ross show. "As a cartoonist I just felt so much passion about what had happened I wanted to kind of counter Comedy Central's message they sent about feeling afraid."
I think it is brilliant.
Producers of South Park had announced Thursday that Comedy Central removed a speech about intimidation and fear from their show after a radical Muslim group warned that they could be killed for insulting the Prophet Muhammad.

The group said it wasn't threatening South Park producers Trey Parker and Matt Stone, but it included a gruesome picture of Theo Van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker killed by a Muslim extremist in 2004, and said the producers could meet the same fate. The website posted the addresses of Comedy Central's New York office and the California production studio where South Park is made.

Do you think banning religion will actually help anything? Who's in a position of authority to do such a thing? Religion causes a lot of issues but you can't simply ban it, that's just stupid.

Yea how am i ment to wait until the 20th may????

Can we not have a 'Draw Mohammed now' and then have a competition or vote on or around the 20th to select the top drawings for all to view? haha
Or can we just start now until the 20th just add a few rules and keep it sort of tactful?
It could be an amusing thread after all....
Just ideas..

Wouldn't go down very well is a teeny understatement.

One could argue that as humanity develops it may well remove religion from itself. Your statement suggests there's an outside force that can remove it, we're all part of it actually.

Who's to say that differences in beliefs beyond the loss of religion won't lead to further problems though? Perhaps religion is just a scapegoat for the failings of man in the eyes of non-believers?

Well yes, simply instituting a "Ban" wouldnt go down very well.

But removing all religion from humanity is a good long term goal.

Im inclined to agree on the most part i find it a little un easy that theres a few religion/cults out there that have way too much power and influence over way too many believers....
But in counter to that i suppose religion does give a lot of people peace of mind and a way to deal with dark times.
IMO people would co exist much better without religion causing so much friction.
