***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Could just be a problem with PA then fallen god.

This is why I want to avoid custom ROMs etc. as there is always little annoying niggles :p

Most just wanted the control over my quick settings, nav bar, and making the software keys a little smaller. I think I might just go back to stock, for now I'm flashing Matr1x kernel. I will report back how it does.

But yeh, rather be on stock if it means I can watch my MKV's.

Also took a look into the screen, it seems the gammas are a off which leads to the lack of contrast and a lot of people have fixed it so I will try test that out too and see if I can get better results. Overall the screen is good but when I use it in bed I can tell their is a lack of contrast compared to the oleds and their unlimited contrast goodness.

Well that was weird. Put my phone down on top of my wallet earlier and it made a chime noise. Didn't think anything of it, until I again put it down on top of my wallet (to stop the back getting scratched to hell) and it did the same again. Put it down on the desk and...nothing. Back on the wallet, same sound again.

Turns out it was reacting to my rather old uni student card that I'd forgotten was even in there, must have an RFID tag inside. Quite neat.

Turns out I was playing aac files which is not hardware supported. MX player seems to handle it much better thou. Tried the matrix kernel it was just so laggy and slow I couldn't take it. I'm currently back to stock right now.

I expect the point he is making is that you cant go through life worrying about what COULD happen.

I'm not, I'm worried about what HAS happened. There's someone on these forums alone who's Nexus 4 got smashed as it escaped off a table and mine's done the same numerous times (but fortunately not been damaged).

Jesus the msm wakelock has been running for an hour in the last 6. Wtf is causing it?

I'm not sure if this is the exact fix, but I've done this and wakelock doesn't use any of my battery.

Settings -> More... -> Mobile Broadcasts -> Uncheck all.

I get two days on my N4 with 1-2 hours of screen on time. On 32% atm after unplugging at 9am yesterday with screen on for 1hr 20m.

My battery over the last day or so. Pretty pleased. I only used Sky go for a minute today before It decided my phone was rooted when it wasn't, so not sure how it has used so much battery.

Getting well over a day on the battery. Plus that is with me still in the oh new toy stage. Well chuffed with the phone so far. The only thing I prefer on the old phone is the column resizing on double tap. In all other ways the nexus is just perfect.

That's one of the first things I turned off..

Had my N4 for over a day now, and I must say I much prefer it to the S3 (and that's before taking into account the fact my S3 died suddenly on Friday).
It looks better, it feels like its built better, and the vanilla android UI is far more intuitive to me than Touchwiz, or Sense for that matter.
I do miss the S3's clever eye detection, for screen timeouts, but in every other sense the N4 seems like a better phone to me.
So far the battery seems to be on par with the S3's, but I'll need longer with it to get a real idea.
A cracking phone by all counts.

Ooh nice, didn't know I could download something to do that. Quick question though, which one do I get?

If I search I can see a couple with similar names, and also one which is £100 with do not buy written after it, obviously I wouldn't go for that one but what's that all about?

Either one of these:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.elnware.smartStay10&feature=search_result

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beansoft.eyespy.free&feature=search_result

Just try both out and see which one works best for you, one might work where as the other may not work.

And yeah not too sure what the £100 thing is about, been like that for months now lol.

It is a very neat feature, but for me it is completely useless as the only time I need it is when lying in bed at night reading/browsing sites and of course the camera won't detect your face in pitch black/dark conditions :( :o :p

its thw nfc chip, does the same on my wallet, think its any card with a chip. i disabled nfc as nothing uses it in my case

Google are VERY quiet on when they will get more stock. Should we give up waiting?

I'm a 6-7 weeker... thinking of cancelling my order and either getting a GS3 LTE (on the EE £369 deal) or just waiting it out until spring... although not sure how much longer I can put up with using my Nexus S :p
