Also, some may remember that I was having PC trouble a few weeks back but I'm up and running again now. I've just bought an XP 2500 Barton off the MM, so that's going to be replacing an XP 2000 and hopefully running at 3200 speeds. That'll give me a bit of a boost.

My output is much higher than last week as I have fixed my XP 3000+ system (broken ram) and have got my dual core system folding more than it was. :)

Also got a 5000 point tiffy. :D

Well I will upgrade my main PC at some point.. at the worst I've upgraded within 18months (last was summer '05), so maybe around Xmas time.
One thing's for sure, when I upgrade it'll be a dual core :) And I'll try to keep the pentium 4 going as a standalone motherboard, along with my other farm machines :D
(Leccy costs will go up once more, as well as keeping my flat noisy and warm! - who needs central heating when you have 4 pc's crunching 24x7!)

I wanna increase production but I'm already at full power.... though I had to take the laptop offline due to imminent Easter holiday ending :(. However it's only something like 3 weeks of school and then study leave :eek:

Short post from me this week as I have limited time due to being on a GPRS connection.

I am back in Egypt, probably for 6 weeks or so. I have a couple of guys popping in now and then to keep an eye on the farm so, hopefully no hiccups like last time.

Laptop been off for a few days whilst travelling but still decent output this week (I think I managed to get a few more 364 pointers and didn't have machines down whilst testing overclocks etc. like last week).

Having some serious psu issues, i anticipate some downtime.

I bought a harddisk silencer and a new seasonic s12-500 psu to complete my quest for silence so i can begin to run it overnight to fold. Its certainly pretty damn quiet now, just a few more tweaks here and there.
Got to do a better job of vrm cooling and hunt for hot things on the board to put heatsinks on, then i can run overnight.

However, the shiny new psu doesn't like switching on. Or at least it rather likes switching off again after a few seconds. No amount of unplugging of stuff fix's it, i had suspected it might be drive spinup current that was killing it. So after i spent several hours making all my wiring neat and tidy its probably got to go back and i'll have to put the old one back in temporarily. Not good at all.

I need some software to spin down drives, anyone know of any?
I'm not even sure if its possible from software. If not i'll have to either make a switch or buy expensive box's for the other two harddisks.

So thats my current status on the pc's and folding front.
