I have just dont the most stupid, crazy and allthogether idiotic thing i have ever done.

I tried to do an overtaking manouver on a bit of road i though was safe. However, i misjudged and had to swerve back in to avoid an accident. The car coming the other way was a Police Traffic car.

I have been caught on video, and charged with Driving without due care and attention, and was apparently lucky not to be arrested.

I am so scared, i could have killed someone, and i dont think i will ever forget the way this has effected me. Im a **** of the highest order and fully expect to lose my licence. I Already have three points for a speeding offence. Im so dissapointed with myself right now. Driving without due care and attention is something i never thought i would ever be stupid enough to do. I, untill tonight, considered myself a good and safe driver.

Please be carefull on the roads, i will never forget the Police officers words. "You could have killed me" I deserve the full punishment of the law, and expect to have to pay heavily.

I expect no sympathy, quite the opposite.

*UPDATED* - This was in 2006, see page two for update nearly 4 years later!!

From what you say in the post, it seems you made a mistake and obviously realise this.
For what its worth, If you are generally a good driver, I hope things work out for you and you manage to keep your licence.

In which case, there is hope for you. Because if you'd done that, and not seen it as your fault, then you'd have taken nothing from it at all.

Hope you do manage to hold onto your license.

Mate what's wrong with you... I assume it was an NSL road and the police car was no doubt travelling at 60mph in the other direction...

FLOOR IT, you should have 0121 done one.

Unfortunately though that could well mean 3 points, unlucky mate.

The traffic cop would have soon caught up and the punishment would have been far worse.

**** mate :(

What made the overtake suddenly dangerous? Just misjudging the gap?

I misjudged the road, which is just stupid, i know it well. I think i thought i was on a different part. It was late and i have been up since 7 and working all day. Its no excuse, infact it makes it worse. I should have realised my judgement was impared and altered my driving to suit.

because you care.. they'll probably take your license.

hope they dont because you know the mistake and obviously feel really bad about it.

at least no one was hurt in the end, bad decisions on the road can prove fatal... obviously thats a lot worse than 3points.. or banned.

but you never know. sorry about it all though. hope it works out well

Welcome to my ignore list.

Unlucky Malt, if you are usually a careful and safe driver then I hope that you manage to keep your licence. At least you seem to have the right attitude about it. Hard though it may seem, try not to beat yourself up over it, what's done is done.

Not trying to be clever here but I've lost 2 police cars before in a 998cc Micra, it's not difficult.

Because of course, running from the Police after having already been seen driving erratically is the best course of action. It also carries more than three points.

Every post you make convinces me (and a lot of other people, it would seem) that you are an idiot.

So, you get the honour of being the first person on my ignore list *ever* and a helping of these:

erm, most traffic cops will be recording and can easily zoom into your plate using the onboard cameras. If you have actually managed to escape in the past then your extremely lucky no equipment was used. As Malt has pointed out he has been caught on camera etc.. running wouldnt been a very good idea.

Bad luck :(. Misjudging an overtake is something that can happen to anyone though. I've done it myself and seen others do it on countless occasions, you were just very unlucky that the dude coming the other way was a traffic cop. Yes, you made a mistake but you've learnt from it. Don't berate yourself too much.

I hope the judicial system is lenient towards you :).

Well at least you recognise you've made a mistake and seem to have genuine remorse. My advice: get on www.5ive-o.com if you haven't already, someone will be able to offer advise on the best course to take. It's not certain you'll lose your licence, with a decent lawyer, and a bit of luck, admitting your guilt and explaining your mistake may see a lenient sentance.
