$266 USD is 137.711GBP (from XE). So we may be looking at a 'Quad' cored CPU for ~£250 maybe?

WHEN DOES Q3 START ASWELL??

MMm single core conroe will be good. Pricing wont be that low, remember $ = £ due to our inflated pricing :(

Q3 is July-Sept

Ok, so what's the difference between the E6550 and the E6540? They're both dual core, both run at 2.33GHz, both have 4MB cache and both have a 1333MHz FSB. What could be different?

When they did this with the Pentium line up they just dumped the virutalisation technology on the cheaper chips. Maybe they have done the same here?

Q6600? hmm.. that means they should be about £200

cant see them being that cheap though, and if they are.. im betting the barcelona will kick its ass first.. in that case, ill go with barcelona. lol
how is there such a big price drop from q2 to q3 with the q6600??

are they expecting an ass whipping?

These price cuts are great for people still stuck with the old AMD systems. ;) Hoping to bag a Core2 in the 2nd half of this year.

Yep - by the looks of that, Intel are worried! Could be interesting...!

Hmm AMD are gona get have to get their pricing right for Barc then.

Any clues on Xeon cuts if any?

The E6300 is stated at around £84 for the new price. To me that seems very low, but could it possibly be that price because it is already fairly cheap at £120 from OCuk? Or will it be around the £95-100 mark?

Remember, that's £84+VAT in large quantities. You're paying £102+VAT so expect the new price to be about £100 Inc. VAT collected from the store. And there are plenty of places where yoy can already get an E6300 for £107-£110 collected.

The E6420 looks like a right bargain, considering it's going to be just over £100 + vat. These chips could quite possibly just be fully functioning E6700's (of course with the working 4mb cache), as I'm guessing intel are much more efficiently manufacturing them now. If this is the case, 3.6ghz with 4mb cache for £100 is pretty decent

Yeah, anyone know when Q2 actually kicks in, cause I'm looking for an upgrade in the next few weeks or so, and can't really wait 2 months or so for these chips?
