So my bike's been nicked from the back garden, was locked up and they've been through the D lock with a pair of bolt croppers. It cost £300 when I bought it plus cycle computer etc.

Luckily it's insured, but I'm still really annoyed. Off to the police station to report it. Who knows it might be recovered :(

There's not a lot of point to this thread other than to rant. :mad::mad::mad::mad:
 
Like the police will do anything! They'll give you a crime number, tell you to claim on the insurance and then put another little tick in whatever box is applicable.
 
I left my bike unlocked outside my parents house for about 5 years. It was a nice bike but my parents live on a 16 house cul-de-sac in the middle of nowhere. Just goes to show that nowhere is sacred. Neighbours never locked their houses, cars or shut their windows back then. Quite a lot different now :(

Get a bigger chain for the next bike!
 
gah, hate ******* ****s like that, it's one thing to steal it from a public place, but it's just so disturbing when they come onto your property to do it
 
It's horrible isn't it. I had two bikes stolen from my locked garage. The thieves obviously had been watching us because they knew we were on holiday and they helped themselves. I reported it but the police didn't really want to know. I just got a crime number and claimed on the household insurance. I was furious about the whole thing and that's really what pushed me into moving.
 
Join the club, it sucks. I had a bike nicked in the first year of Uni, it cost me £300 but was worth a lot more (as most second bikes are) I was thrilled when I got it as it had spec that I could have only dreampt of when I was younger.

One of my housemates came in late drunk and left the door unlocked (or maybe even wide open), came down in the morning and it had gone, what's most annoying is I had specifically checked that everything was locked up that evening. It's the fact that some thieving poo has been in your house/shed that's most annoying I think.

That's all I'm expecting. But at least if they do see it on the off chance I might get it back. It's like the lottery, you can't win if you havn't bought a ticket.

Nothing. I am contemplating putting some wireless IP CCTV in though.

had mine nicked out my yard a few months ago, cost £400 origionally for the bike and had spent around £400 doing it up

Had something similar happen last week.

Someone came into the back garden and tried to make off with the bike. Couldn't get away with it so they threw it over the neighbours fence and bent the wheel completely and left it.

They left the lights and cycle computer attached but took the already snapped chain!



Only damage done was a fence panel snapped.


It's not the bike I care about it's the fact they have been there and will have been able to look through the kitchen French doors to see what else we have.
 
Strangley enough, I got a letter from the police saying they recovered my bike which had been stolen over a year ago! It was some part time £350 carera or what ever it is. So you never know! lol
