Victim of crime - Bike stolen

rofl wish we had a anti chav nuke and kill them all, that would be heaven, no more thieves/gangs etc. aaah i can see it now. my house was robbed when i was 7, took my little tv with my megadrive... sry goin over the top, sry about your bike!

Just to lighten the mood a little, i had my mountain bike nicked many moons ago. The avenue i lived on was your average semi-detached road, with shared drives in between houses but no gates on the fronts. I had ridden up my drive and lent it against the side wall of the house. Came out after 10 minutes to discover that someone had nicked it.

How does this lighten the mood?

My old fella was in the front garden of house we shared a drive with, talking to our next door neighbour and the bloke from the semi next to them. The guy across the street was also out front doing his garden.

Still not mood lightning enough?

In total, there was a Police Constable of 20yrs service, a Police Constable of 25yrs service (my old fella!!), a detective sergeant and a detective inspector. When i asked them where my bike was they told me my mate had just walked past them on the drive, jumped on my bike and ridden off on it smiling and waving to them. Needless to say they got some stick for that from their colleagues!

If your in london burnsy, get your self down to brick lane at the weekend. Chances are you'll see it there trying to be sold :)

Also, just a little fact for the day that i picked up in the london paper.

London is the bike theft capital of europe

Just had a call from the police. They asked me a few questions about my bike, they found someone with one matching my description but they're not sure if it's mine or not. Even if it's not mine, at least they're looking for it, so that gives me hope I'll get it back.

But how can this be - the Police nevver do nuffink, they just tick boxes!!!!1111oneoneone

I hope you get it back.

Did they tell you where abouts they spotted the look-a-like?

No. I'm waiting for a call back from the PC, but I can't for the life of me find where I noted the frame number :( I hope it still has my other cycle lock on there to which I have the key - that would hopefully prove it's mine or not.

So remember people, keep serials and mark with UV pens.

so is it worth insuring my BMX? i mean i keep getting picked by 4 or more chavs when im out riding.. few times i got chased (they were on bikes) once they actually took my bike of me but i caught them and got it back.. what if one time they take it off me .. will insurance pay up? or will that be my fault? what other security things should i consider ? i mean i live in London n17 which is not the best area and there is a lot of scum around here..

That's totally dependant on the insurance company and the policy.

i wouldn't bother with insurance when out riding how would they get you off your bike? if you live in a dodgey area or lock your bike in a dodgey area then insurance sounds much more appealing, personally though i would get a cheaper 2nd bike to bring to dodgey places, insurance or no insurance

They already did. Didn't you read all of what he said before emptying brain onto keyboard? :P

well it's pretty easy.. they dont chase or even try to f... with me when there's 1-2 of them.. but when it gets bigger group 4+ they always do and i have experienced that my self.. as i've already said.. blocking my way.. chasing me down.. what is this? a war zone ? :/ cheaper bike is not an option if i ride, i ride my bmx and dont lock it.. when im out to stay some where i go on the bus.. bmx is just 3-4 days a week.. the only option i guess is some kind of defense tool.. even if they do get my bike, one of them wont be going home feeling good that day.. i wont be threaten by this scum in streets.. :/ police will not find my bike.. insurance wont help (by the looks if it) no police patrolling around parks i ride.. so yeah the only way out is defend your self.. nice
