The Rainforest Tablet

Whatever it is it will be big.

I hope not, 10"~ is my limit.

;) :p

I shall be watching tomorrow with interest, though I'm not expecting anything too special. I don't think the Kindle can be replaced with a proper tablet for several reasons, it will be sold alongside it I imagine.

I want a proper 4th gen Kindle over another cheap Android tablet.

7-8" e-ink screen with 720p+ resolution.
5mm thick.
<100g.
IR touchscreen.
4GB.
Fast SoC.
£150.

A nice high resolution e-ink Kindle will do for me. Clearer legibility in dark lighting would be a bonus but not a must. I suspect we’ll have to wait until the new year for one and that launch will be not be a direct replacement.

I've been thinking about this. I want more real estate when w8 comes out due to split screen. But then keyboards won't work and size issue :(.

Back on topic be interesting to see what they do. I can't believe they aren't using honeycomb. Wtf, why would they not do that.

I don't think this will be for me. If I'm buying into the tablet market I want a device to do everything, not just an e-reader. Depends on price though.

Problem I have with this is that, if the rumours are to be believed, it's running a heavily modified Honeycomb version of Android, most importantly that's with the Android Market removed (so you have to use the Amazon Market)

Add in the 'new' rumour that it is likely to be replaced inside of 6 months and it'd have to be both very cheap and easy to put custom (AOSP) roms on imo

If the rumours are true regarding it being a modified honeycomb platform, it won't take long before a) someone has got the market onto it, and b) someone has cooked a ROM for it.
