The Rainforest Tablet

TBH,it could be just launching in the US first.

I doubt it.
The entire device is built around their app store, movies, tv and cloud storage. Non of which are available in the uk ATM. So until they are the device is pretty pointless. They must be having issues with the film producers and getting the licenses.

They've actually created a nice ecosystem.

Will no doubt it will get Cyanogenmod 8 if you don't like Amazon's system.

edit:

Also UK is missing so many key amazon apps that the tablet isn't worthwhile releasing in the UK atm.

"Amazon has droped the keyboard from some of its Kindles in favour of touch"

I hate it when editors don't proof-read properly.

(I had to fix so many typos there to not make myself look stupid)

It looks pretty cool, and the reason is simple. A complete ecosystem as mentioned above.

The major problem with Android is the lack of cohesion with content. You have to drag & drop your content, but with this everything you buy from Amazon is available locally or cloud.

Clearly we don't have movies on Amazon yet but the music/books/magazines/apps will be still appealing to people. The OMAP 4 processor has a decent PowerVR GPU too so games won't be a worry, that is, if Android has any graphical games like on the iPhone.

Battery life better be as good as the Kindle v3! They should have produced more add ons for these types of devices not making more devices I think!

The battery life will be nothing like the Kindle 3, that lasts weeks to months and is e-ink. This is a standard tablet with a backlit colour screen, so you'll get hours of battery life rather than days/months.
