The Rainforest Tablet

Now that looks very interesting, where are the movies/tv stuff from? Is amazon about to start a new service up?

Any flash?

Edit - they already have digital movie system on the us store. Still riddled with DRM, why haven't they learnt from the music industry.

Ships from and sold by Amazon Digital Services. U.S. only.

Not surpring it's centred around their digital media service which we don't have. Must be issues with licensing with the film companies. If or when we get those services they'll release it here.

So at the moment, we only get the no frills base model for now. This is how it compares to the outgoing generation...

Screen size is the same, storage capacity is half as big and battery life also takes a hit.

Sorry, what I meant was that it probably won't be available to purchase here in the UK on that date... at whatever price!

Edit: Their UK website already has the basic 6" model available for pre order at £89 !!! (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0051QVF7A?country=GB) So much for a straight conversion then! :(

They say it will be released on 12th October.

Look at their US web-page.

The $79 one is ad-supported and the non ad-supported one is $109. With 20% VAT the price would be around £84. So we are paying £6 more.

Other than these aberrations, the Kindle Fire absolutely supplies the spec goods. It uses a 7in 1024x600 pixel IPS display fronted by strong, scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass, is powered by a dual-core Texas Instruments OMAP processor (MHz TBC) and weighs around 410g. That's significantly heavier than the 250g Kindle, but much lighter than the 600g Apple iPad 2.The battery life is rated at eight hours.
