Wired up to my PS3 with 76MB down and 18MB up and it's pitifully slow most of the time.

On Steam I get 9.5 MB/s most times whereas on PS3 I get between 1 and 2 MB/s .

Exactly the same for me! I'm with plusnet with the pro add on, if I use a speedcheck with the PS3 wired to the router I get around 60Mb download but if I try downloading any update it takes hoooooouuuuuuuurrrrrssss!!!!!

The 360 on the other hand like downloading a new mappack is done within minutes!

It's not just paying for updates though, the automatic updating is a bonus

Because of the file system. It's unlikely to be an issue with the PS4 anyway.

Should just be free not a money grabbing ploy to make you sign up for ps+

If the file system changes on the ps4 hopefully they'll retain the ability to store pics/vids on the hd.

While I'm not arguing that it should be free, I'm pretty sure it's not a ploy most people are probably signing up for the batch of games every which far exceed the yearly subscription in about a month. The same could be said for XBL and making you pay to play online/voice chat
