That's mostly false if talking about game performance only. Even the 6700k was better than first gen Ryzen chips for games, if you trust Hardware Unboxed look up their newer video where they compare a lot of CPUs. Or even Digital Foundry.

Yes and also no, it depends on the game, in lighter loads yes sure but if the CPU is pushed Ryzen 1000 really took the biscuit.... those guys don't know how to properly push CPU's to determine "which is better" if their lives depended on it....

Core i5 4690K at 4.6Ghz. Notice the CPU is hard locked at 100%, the GPU is heavily bottlenecked and 33 FPS.

Second image is of my Ryzen 1600, about 70% load on it, GPU is at 92% and 85 FPS.

This is why i switched from Intel to Ryzen.

If his CPU is running at 100% in game he needs a better one.

A Core i7 6700K and an RTX3060 should easily be able to run unmodded GTA V at a locked 60FPS,at 1080p. The game isn't massively threaded AFAIK?

A Ryzen 5 3600 and an RTX2060 can easily run it at 60FPS:

Even a Core i7 3770K and a GTX1660 should be fine:

not sure what these mean, anything else here that can reduce performance?

The system RAM is only at 2133MHZ,and that will cause lower gaming performance. Also, the RTX3060 has 12GB of VRAM.

A Ryzen 3600 is in another league to a 6700K.

Nvidia RTX cards need a very highend CPU or they tank performance. 12gb of VRAM isn’t going to help. It’s pointless to have 12gb of memory on the RTX 3060.

Cannot see GTA V is multi core optimised, so single core performance on a 6700k seems sufficient.
Op do you have GTA mods running i.e redux?

GTA V mostly uses 4 cores, and does not seem to scale well with SMT/HT.It uses an ancient engine, and if a Core i7 3770K and a GTX1660 can hit well over 60FPS at 1080p,a Core i7 6700K and RTX3060 will be more than enough to hit 60FPS.

Even with Redux, a Core i7 6700K and RTX3060 should be fine!

Over 60FPS with a Core i5 7400 and GTX1660 at 1080p!

Ampere is a terribly taxing architecture.

All you talk about is AMD being better. CPU’s and even GPU’s. I’ve only been on this forum a short while, and it’s as if a select few, you included are sort of AMD propaganda robots. Anytime others have shown you factual proof of something, you still don’t believe it.

I wouldn’t waste my time, like so many others I’ve noticed have, because it’s clear that’s what you want. You love AMD, I get it;)

And anyone talking about AMD gets you mad?

It’s very obvious why someone would only recommend AMD. They are the only choice. Sorry if that gets you upset. Maybe write to Intel and ask them to release something better than Ryzen.

I wouldn’t waste my time trying to argue Intel are worth considering. It’s a pretty pointless argument.

Ampere is a terribly taxing architecture.

Gamersnexus had an RTX2080TI running even on a Ryzen 5 1600(Zen1),and they got over 60FPS at 1080p and the CPU was definitely a bottleneck there.

There are videos of a Ryzen 5 2600 and a RTX3060TI(which is far more powerful than an RTX3060):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXJav82ZoTs

Even with a CPU bottleneck, average FPS at 1080p are 100FPS! The worst minimums, were in the mid 50FPS range. Zen+ is generally slower than Skylake based CPUs in games such as GTA V.

Unmodded GTA V will run on most modern setups easily - its why its popular to this day.

With the Redux mod,the Ryzen 5 2600 and a RTX3060TI has similar minimums, and the average moves down to 80~90FPS:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78OLS_RPsCM

An overclocked Ryzen 5 2600/1600AF is equivalent to a stock Core i5 6600 in GTA V:

The Core i7 6700K and Core i5 7600K have similar boost clockspeeds, but the Core i7 has 200MHZ high all core clockspeeds,so should be under 10% slower than a stock Ryzen 5 3600 in the game.

So looking at the evidence to hand, even with a mod like Redux the performance seems really off.

Its why I suggested to see if there was any crypto malware on the system. The CPU might be thermally downclocking too,and the system is also running the RAM at only 2133MHZ. But even then a Core i7 3770K and GTX1660 are fine with the game,as is the Core i5 7400 and RTX2060 combination.

Plus apparently their RTX3060 is "4GB" - makes you wonder whether they have one of those China special rebranded Fermi GPUs.

The Ryzen 2600 has a lot more resources then a i7 6700k.

The memory is a good point although 4gb at 1920x1080 should be enough for most settings. This might not be a RTX 3060 but it still wouldn’t explain the 100% CPU usage which would point to this being an RTX Ampere card which is a resource hog.
