I hope your wrote them a cheque IN the courtroom, shouted "who should I make it out to" and walked out whistling. We make the crime we take the fine but we all know that there is zero consistency and these fines are a which side of bed decision.

Move on old boy, lifes to short.

I did it with a flourish on a card dont worry, i grit the teeth till outside :)

christ mate, i feel for you... :(

104mph on my bike is a not unusual cruising speed tbh, motorways or dual carriageways, so to hear you got that doen to you (and i need to drive for my living) has hit home tbh...

If nothing else your experience has had a positive impact on me, but gutted for you.

Anyway cheers for the support, it does work venting i can tell you.

No good me moaning at home, they just give me that "he's off on one again" look and me ****ing partner laughed when i told him.

Sorry to hear that Mark, doesn't make sense at all. As most have said the punishment doesn't fit the crime at all.

I've got a family member who is quite young still (16) and always up to no good with stealing, drugs, assault and the whole family wishes the police would be harder on her for these real crimes and not silly stuff like this.

Funny that in the UK you get this ban and fine, yet in Germany you could have done that speed at 8.30AM and no one would have batted an eye lid.

Unlucky mate, that sounds like a **** take.

I got done for 64mph in a 30, before anyone says anything it a clear dual carriageway that turned into a 30 and a laser man was pointing at me as soon as I passed through. He stood in the middle of the road pulled me in and gave me a 3pt/£60 FPN whilst being a **** to me because of what I was driving.

This is rubbish how they can just punish how they like - there must be an appeals procedure, not against the fact you did it, but against the punishment!

Why don't they punish shoplifters in this way :( ?
Way OTT imho, especially including the ban.

Exactly, I find it a shame no more European countries adopt the German limits, cruising through there is such a nice process set cruise control lat 95-100 mph and cruise along for ages without having to brake or worry about the highway robbers with laser guns.

That seems ridiculously harsh!

Was that just with a speeding charge, or did they tag along a "dangerous driving" type charge on as well?

Does anyone know the maximum(ish) speed you can get clocked for and 'only' receive a fine and short ban?

Are you less likely to do that speed again now?

I seldom break the speed limit because im never normally out at 3am or on roads that allow it.

If you are asking if this is a deterrent then of course, its a reminder not to do it, but believe it or not this was a once off anyway.

To Joshy, yes just speeding, no dangerous/reckless driving.

Also 6 weeks ban, thats just a bit too long, it is an inconvenience being that long.

Because shoplifters will just steal to pay the fine, so it'll just fuel the crime even further.

So erm, 2k fine, divide by minimum wage for their age, and voila, they have to do that many hours of (unpaid) work picking up rubbish from the street or risk jailtime instead.

It costs money to make them do work, as in admin, for nothing back.

Its not like it saves paying a rubbish picker, its a job that would need to be invented to create the punishment.

In other words a waste of time. Also we bang too many people up for stupid things in this country, i dont know what the answer is but it aint banging them up.
